I need to check this out. I'm a fan of zoos, etc but of course they have to do it the right way.

there is no right way to keep an orca in captivity. orcas are highly intelligent and family orientated creatures who stay with their mothers their whole lives. when they are captured for profit(which is the only reason i can see)they are taken away from their families, thrown together with other orcas whose dialect they do not speak and kept in what would be for them the equivalent of a bathtub. they are the alpha predator in the sea... they need to hunt, not to have their meals thrown to them and patted on the nose as a reward for being good orcinus boys and girls for amusing the humans. I can not express enough how much hatred I have for the keeping of these magnificent animals in captivity.
Exactly right. For so many reasons, there is NO right way to keep Orcas or any other whales in captivity. Ever. :nono: Cincy, I can't imagine that you or anyone else who sees this film or otherwise educates themselves about whales could disagree. It's so blatantly obvious... that's why it's so surprising to me that it's even still legal in North America.

Zoos pretty much make me feel disgusted by the fact that I'm human. Yeah yeah, breeding programs, etc etc. I get the arguments for the very good zoos (of which there are very, very few).... it's still a bunch of people paying to gawk at a lot of miserable penned animals.

Humans will use up hundreds of acres to play stupid fucking golf, and give a wild animal a 100x100 cage to rot in so that they can observe them.. totally fucked.

    Whoa whoa whoa...

Zoos and aquariums suck... but leave golfing out of this one. I like hitting a ball and then walking to it and hitting it again. :D
