Hasn't eaten in 3 days.
Minimum water.
Walking around like a zombie....

So we get her to the vet.
To find out after bloodwork, Sammy has an overactive thyroid?
And now we are going to put her on medication? 2 pills a day?

Little Samantha will scratch my fucking eyes out the 1st time I attempt to give her a pill.
:lol::lol::lol:

Funny when the vet asked what Sammy eats...
Umm...She likes Ribeyes, she prefers Perdue chicken over Tyson, Turkey is one of her favorites, she likes lunchmeat, but not the cheap shit, and she just loves pork chops.:lol:
Take me piece by piece.....

    Awwww ... Poor Samantha!

When we had to give Mr. Pickles pills three times a day, it worked best with a syringe. We crushed the pill into pieces and stuffed it into the syringe opening and then pulled up a little water. After a while you get a hold of the procedure and it goes really fast.

I hope she gets better soon!

Our Sam doesn't like meat at all. She only wants Solisticat with lots of goo and fish ...

We were happy to hear that her kidneys, liver, etc were all normal. Samantha is 15yrs, old. And I was prepared for the worst.

Actually I wasn't prepared for the worst, had we gotten bad news, I would have cried for a month.
Hell, I cried this morning just because I got good news.

glad to hear things are ok. good luck with the pills.

Just had a heck of a time with "Spot", our 14 year old kitty - we are having guys here to put more insulation, making holes in the walls and hammering - I had to rescue her and put her in a downstairs room. When they came to give us an estimate a few weeks back, she ended up behind the wall  couldn't find her for hours.

the insulation guy - "I can't believe how much insulation you don't have up there" :fp:

My kitty has the same issue. At first giving her the pills was a nightmare. At first we used pill pockets which were like a dream http://www.chewy.com/cat/greenies-pill- ... 4AodolIAMg

But she caught onto those and started chewing around the pill and spitting it out  Now I just use a pill shooter. It shoots the pill right down her throat. At first I used to have to wrap her in a blanket or towel and pry her little jaw open, but it's a lot easier now.

    Glad she is ok. :)

Glad to hear it's nothing major, and Samantha will be OK.

And even better good news -- from what I understand, giving a pill to cat is a breeze!

don't know if it would work for a cat, but for dogs, I used to pinch the sides of the jaw to force it open then with the pill on the tip of my finger, shove it down the throat so he had to swallow it. actually with a cat, anything would result in having my face scratched off

be sure to do this with bare arms and hands. Cats suspect the worst when you are all gloved up and shit.

My arms used to be so scratched up that I looked like a cutter :? That's when I started wrapping her in a blanket. The worst was she caught on to my routine and I'd have to sneak up on her to catch her :fp: Now she's almost 18 and a little bit easier to catch

How to give the cat a pill:

Pick cat up and cradle it in the crook of your left arm as if holding a baby. Position right forefinger and thumb on either side of cat's mouth and gently apply pressure to cheeks while holding pill in right hand. As cat opens mouth pop pill into mouth. Allow cat to close mouth and swallow.
Retrieve pill from floor and cat from behind sofa. Cradle cat in left arm and repeat process.
Retrieve cat from bedroom, and throw soggy pill away.
Take new pill from foil wrap, cradle cat in left arm holding rear paws tightly with left hand. Force jaws open and push pill to back of mouth with right forefinger. Hold mouth shut for a count of ten.
Retrieve pill from goldfish bowl and cat from top of wardrobe. Call spouse from garden.
Kneel on floor with cat wedged firmly between knees, hold front and rear paws. Ignore low growls emitted by cat. Get spouse to hold head firmly with one hand while forcing wooden ruler into mouth. Drop pill down ruler and rub cat's throat vigorously.
Retrieve cat from curtain rail, get another pill from foil wrap. Make note to buy new ruler and repair curtains. Carefully sweep shattered figurines and vases from hearth and set to one side for gluing later.
Wrap cat in large towel and get spouse to lie on cat with head just visible from below armpit. Put pill in end of drinking straw, force mouth open with pencil and blow down drinking straw.
Check label to make sure pill not harmful to humans, drink glass of water to take taste away. Apply Band-Aid to spouse's forearm and remove blood from carpet with cold water and soap.
Retrieve cat from neighbor's shed. Get another pill. Place cat in cupboard and close door onto neck to leave head showing. Force mouth open with dessert spoon. Flick pill down throat with elastic band.
Fetch screwdriver from garage and put cupboard door back on hinges. Apply cold compress to cheek and check records for date of last tetanus jab. Throw Tee-shirt away and fetch new one from bedroom.
Ring fire brigade to retrieve cat from tree across the road. Apologize to neighbor who crashed into fence while swerving to avoid cat. Take last pill from foil-wrap.
Tie cat's front paws to rear paws with garden twine and bind tightly to leg of dining table, find heavy duty pruning gloves from shed. Push pill into mouth followed by large piece of fillet steak. Hold head vertically and pour 2 pints of water down throat to wash pill down.
Get spouse to drive you to the emergency room, sit quietly while doctor stitches fingers and forearm and removes pill remnants from right eye. Call furniture shop on way home to order new table.
Arrange for SPCA to collect cat and ring local pet shop to see if they have any hamsters.

Our little fucker nico passed away on sept 11, 2012 after a long ass battle with heart decease (2+ years). Was giving him pills 3 times a day and then it was pills and shots till he could no longer battle on. I miss that fucker everyday, and speedy, my eyes water up every time I think about him.

:( My other kitty, Freckles passed away on Sept 10, 2012. I was in shock because she had always been the healthy one. Started declining with liver disease pretty quickly. She had such catitude. I still miss her so much. So sorry that you lost nico.

I'm glad Samantha is eating Speedy. At this stage in the game I let Sweet Pea eat what she wants. The vet said as long as she's eating, that's a good thing.
