The unofficial Pearl Jam theme song for Hartford, CT! Twice I have seen it light the XL Center crowd on fire. Last night was even better than the first time because of the absolutely insane McCready does Eruption intro. LOVE LOVE LOVE this cover.

As a huge VH fan , hearing Eruption live at Brooklyn last week and ATBL in Hartford in 2010, I was ecstatic. If I was in Hartford last night and heard both I would have lost my mind :)!

At first I thought they were going to do another OTOTO but was surprised to see ATBL again. You're right, it was better than the first time. I will never miss another Hartford show again. The last 3 or 4 PJ shows there have been untouchable.

    nice!

in 2010 i went to Hartford and both shows at MSG...and as much as people rave about MSG 2, when it was all over i thought them playing Ain't Talking bout Love was what stood out most from the 3 show run...and i've never even liked Van Halen!!

can't explain it, but just the fact that it was FUN...PJ have always been such a serious band, when they play covers it's usually by other serious artists by Neil Young or Bob Dylan - don't get me wrong, those are guys i worship. but to play a song like that was like - lets just play this cuz its fun and we want to, not cuz we are trying to make a statement

also, in the early days the Seattle scene was so "strict", you had to say your influences were the Melvins and Sonic Youth and Black Flag etc, bands with street cred, you could never admit to liking Van Halen or "cheesy" stuff like that...i thought it was lame Eddie gave kind of an apologetic speech in 2010 before they played it....but they did play it, so to see that all that high school type bullshit has finally faded and the guys can be real and admit they grew up on this stuff, thats what made it great too

awesome that they whipped it out again!

"I'll tell you what: If all I had was Pearl Jam, and I didn't have another band in the world, I would not be worried. Because in there is the essence of making great music. You don't have to use it all at once, but it's there." - Neil Young

+1, was there for both, but Ed's comments prior to the song last night made the second time even better. Very cool moment.

Aaah lovely - thanks for posting a link to it. I saw it in 2010 (on the rail!) but couldn't go this time. I see that he stuck to the real words this time - in 2010 he dedicated it to the women's basketball team and sang 'you've got to take the 3 point' instead. And Mike on Eruption - words fail me. Beautiful.

As much as I love Boston/MA shows, I too will never miss another Hartford stop. The combination of how amazing the crowd is, to how well the band plays, to the hotel being connected to the venue.......you just cant beat it. Their was a great vibe in the city yesterday. I don't think they will ever skip Hartford for as long as they are touring. I really, really hope they come back next summer.
