    2012-09-21-pearl_jam_vs.jpg

I remember exactly...at about this time of day (9:30 AM CT), I was a bleary eyed senior in college who'd stood outside Positively 4th Street Records in Charleston, IL, waiting for my copy of 'Vs.' and had stayed up far too late giving it a couple of spins.

From a purely artistic standpoint, I think either Vitalogy or No Code are PJ's best work. But, because of the memories it brings back....or, as it was released shortly before my 21st birthday...lack thereof...Vs. will always, always, always be my favorite Pearl Jam album.

Vs. was my favourite for a long time.
Then the Yield tour was nearly good enough for Yield to take the top spot.
Then Backspacer came along. It was cool, but didn't reach the aggressive/angsty heights of Vs.
Lightning Bolt is excellent, but again, more mellow than Vs.

Bottom line: Vs. is still my favourite.

When I recorded 20 PJ covers for PJ20, I was tempted to do all songs from Vs. :)
Ended up doing RVM, Daughter, Small Town, Indifference:

Meanwhile, I just worked out Infallible on guitar. Might stick a video of that up on YouTube in the coming days.

No Code is my second favorite, and I was a few years older than you, I was 24, and Vs will probably always be my favorite because that was the moment I realized these guys were around to stay and I could invest myself emotionally in this band, high quality all the way through
