Congratulations! I started dieting in January this year and lost 45 lbs by June. Stay strong and keep the weight off. I try to fluctuate now in a 6-8 lbs margin and so when the weight starts creeping up towards that 8 lbs I just take it easy on the portion size for a couple days. So far it is working like a charm.

A new coffee addiction certainly helped as I was drinking about 4-5 cans of soda a day.

    It was definitely intentional. :)

Was 226 as of New Year's. Now I'm 155. ...goal though is to get rid of my belly, which I'm still working on. In clothes I now look skinny. I suppose I have time before "bathing suit season".

Congrats! Yes, keeping it off is going to the the real test. I think the first 50 came off in the first 5 months, but the last 5 months has been much slower for me. I've been using the Lose It app, which has been extremely helpful tracking things.

I had gained a bit since you kindly treated to drinks a few years back but luckily my face shows it last. :) It crept up and then accelerated over the last 2 years, so I decided to get tough on myself. Plus I cut off my "member", but that only accounts for 12 pounds of weight and girth.

Three years ago I was around 268 (i was too nervous about getting on a scale), now I'm 198 but I need a new wardrobe. I also decided to become a vegetarian for the second time and this time it has stuck and the no meat lifestyle is just fine. I can't seem to gain weight though or is it that I'm just getting real old?

    Congrats!

I've taken off 25-30 lbs. this year myself. I started running and trying to eat just a bit healthier. All it really takes is consistency. The running helps because I can watch my progress getting faster and being able to run longer distances. I sign up for a 5K race every other month and that gives me something to "train" for.

I've plateaued a bit in the last month or so, but would like to ultimately lose about 10 more.

Oh along with becoming a vegetarian I rode my road bike all up and down State Road 7. Averaging about 30-40 miles a ride. However last week I crashed and snapped off my derailleur. Man that piece of equipment alone was $325. 8 years ago I can just imagine what it costs now.

One good thing no belly or excess fat....working on strengthening my quads for my knee and tightening my abs, man it's a lot of work.

    Thanks bb!

My weight crept up each year over the last decade but would never go down, last couple of years most noticeably.

When I use the "lose it" app to track calories, I actually do plug in "drumming" under exercising which burns about 210 calories per hour. My fiance is probably skeptical about the drumming/calories feature on this app. :D

Congrats on being coming vegetarian g/p! I've been trying to ride to work a bit, but it's nowhere near the mileage you're doing. Your bike sounds expensive - I think mine cost me all of $325.

Congrats. You lost 70lbs, down to 155 and still have a belly? How is that possible? How tall are you?

I'm 5'8". I recall having a belly in 2000 at 150, so I'm just wondering if I'll always have one to some extent. I've heard that you can't focus burning fat from a specific spot (like if I did situps, I would just build muscle under the belly).
ADD 5,200 to the post count you see, thank you. :)

it's relatively easy to lose weight ... it's keeping it off that is hard ... mostly because of the changes to one's metabolism ... even tho you lose a significant amount of weight - you have to continue to eat less calories to keep it off ... that's why so many people who get heavy end up yo-yoing with their weight ... you kinda have to pick a healthy weight you want to be at and stick to a plan that will keep you there ... the yo-yoing is not good for the body ...

    Very true.
The only people we should try to get even with...
    ...are those who've helped us.
