Question? the bow at the end of the movie, what arena is that?0
-
I hate to say it... I saw PJ20 in a theater on opening night and was gravely disappointed. Cameron Crowe has said that The Kids Are Alright was the inspiration for PJ20, but then he changed his mind and decided to do a more straightforward kind of documentary. The problem is that Crowe is friends with the band and didn't want to offend them by getting into some darker areas. It made for a bland film.
HAD Crowe taken the "Kids Are Alright" approach it would be been much better. Let the performance clips (with songs played in their entirety) speak for themselves. The thing that makes the band so special didn't come across in PJ20 because none of the live clips are allowed to play out without interruption.
I love the idea of getting together with a bunch of fans in a theater to watch something PJ related, but not for this. Maybe for "The Kids Are 20" which I understand was on the Blu Ray.0 -

Can't remember off the top of my head right now - if it's the Spectrum or the MSG show that ends it, but it's either Philly or NY.
If you see Phillies/Sixers regalia, or a shitty looking arena that's incredibly intimate, or the soft pretzel advertising signs, then it's the Spectrum.0 -

For those who scoff at "Jamily" in my name... 9 years ago, when my first daughter was born there were jokes about whether my priority would be my family or PJ. I smiled and quipped "I am a JamilyMan." What was a family joke became a hated term among jammers. Didn't see that one coming!0

HEY EVERYBODY!!!!
If you want to fill those needed seats to make the PJ20 showing happen in your town you gotta help PROMOTE IT!!!! Post on FB, Twitter, and Craigslist, etc.!!! I created a PJ20 advertisement and posted it on Craigslist (and renewed several times) in the "events" and "tickets" sections early on and I am positive this helped Charlotte, NC reach and exceed our minimum to make our showing happen. We had more than enough reservations! If you want to copy my advertisement and post on Craigslist in your city feel free to do so! Just go to Charlotte Craigslist and do a search for "Pearl Jam Twenty". Note that I changed the text in my advertisement a bit after our minimum reservation was met. The first post I made included information about needing a minimum number of reservations by a certain date. GOOD LUCKLast night was the Charlotte showing and it was a BLAST!! LOVED IT!!

I'm hoping the Seattle screening will happen. It'd be extra cool to see the film again in Seattle. I'll search for the gathr thing as soon as I can & promote it around.

Hello is the Phoenix, AZ show on Nov 14 or Nov 18?
The link has 14 listed and when I went to pay it said 18th
Thank you anyone in AZ that knows the true date of event0 -
Columbus will have a small screening, but at least the lobby PA system is playing Black!
Edit - We got Black, some Nirvana, a Soundgarden song, and another Pearl Jam song which I admittedly forget. :(
The preshow started at the listed time and maybe it was just a special thing for the Columbus show, but it included a clip from ACL featuring Ben Harper, Balls In Your Mouth from Jimmy Fallon, the "coffee house" scene from Singles and I want to say something else.
They showed the blu-ray version, FWIW. I stuck around after the credits and it went back to the "input select" screen and there was a blu-ray logo.
Here are a few funny things about the movie that I noticed...repeat viewings and you can see stuff like this:
First PJ song (Go or Release, depending on how you look at it.)
Even Flow about 30-45 minutes in...HONEST!
Crown of Thorns near the end
Last song was Alive and Baba O'Riley right before (right?)
Bow at the end of the show
Someone didn't know about the movie until they were on their way home and saw "PEARL JAM 20" on the marquee!(I think we only had about six or seven viewers total.)
But why are we actually WANTING this movie in theaters when we have it on DVD or blu-ray and we can watch it for free any time? ... Oh wait, we pay $2000 for a FRIGGIN' BACKPACK!Presidential Advice from President-Elect Mike McCready: "Are you getting something out of this all encompassing trip?"0 -

Reserved my tickets for the Tampa showing. Looks like they are the only 2 on there. C'mon FL peeps!!0 -
Info about the free bootleg is too vague for me to go. Now if they gave me my choice of any show for each ticket I buy (buy 3 tickets, get 3 different boots), I'd be there. Too bad...I kind of wanted to take my kids to this, as they are bummed I'm not taking them to a show this time around.1998 (#1-2) East Lansing & Auburn Hills; 2000 (#3-4) Tampa & Noblesville; 2003 (#5-6) Lexington & Noblesville; 2006 (#7) Cincinnati; 2007 (#8) Chicago (Lollapalooza);
