I was stoked to see that PJ decided to honor my 10 (will be 11) year old with a Birthday show!

December 2nd in Calgary.. Even though one of the farthest destinations for us to get to.. I HAD to do it...

He is flipping of course..

Anybody had/will have the pleasure of a birthday show? What should I do to make it even more awesome?

The first show I saw was on my 21st in my home town of Manchester in 2000. Flew back from the south of France where I was studying at the time. Totally worth missing a few days of uni for

    Hope you both enjoy it.

I got to see Ed solo in Ft Lauderdale last year the day after by birthday. That's the closest that I've come.

They are playing Vancouver on my birthday, but I'm not travelling 3000 miles to see them.
Never seen them on my birthday (vast majority of shows have been summer dates).

If I recall the only concerts I've attended on my birthday were U2 in 2005 at the TD Boston Garden and Keith Richards and the Expensive Winos in 1989 (I think it was 89) at the Orpheum Theater.
    This weekend we rock Portland

WORCESTER 2 BABY!!!! I mean, I'm still a little miffed that the band didn't decide to throw me a birthday party at MSG and decided to do Barclays 2 days after instead. How thoughtless of them  :lol::lol: But I suppose Worcester isn't so bad. Last year I made the decision that if Pearl Jam were to play anywhere in the world on my birthday, I HAVE to be there. So stoked!

I don't know what I'm doing yet other than attempting to get on the rail. I'm trying not to set ridiculous expectations only to be disappointed. Been there, done that, so not worth it.

I don't know how you can make it anymore special for your son, Adam. From what I can tell you've already done everything you can. I'm still contemplating the Worcester Sharks jersey but I dunno..

Lucky kid! Pearl Jam has played on my birthday before (Sept. 28). But I have never been to show on the day of. In 2009, 2011, and 2012 we took a trip to see them and called it a birthday trip since it was within days, of my birthday. This year we are justifying our spending on Pearl Jam travel by calling it an anniversary trip. We celebrate 19 years on Nov. 26 and are going to Spokane!

I haven't been fortunate enough to catch PJ on my birthday yet. I was lucky enough to see one member, Matt Cameron on my birthday a couple years ago, at my first Soundgarden concert.

PJ is usually in Austrailia come my birthday. This year is the exception where they play stateside in November, but no shows.

I did however score some Cornell tix for my first ever b-day show.

PS: I think flying your kids 1,000s of miles to another country to catch a Pearl Jam show scores quite a few "cool dad" points

Birthday shows are the best! Just being there with people you care about, watching a band you love is gift enough.

AND since the band has a poster for every show, your show will have something to commemorate his special day that he shared with his Dad. Dad's are the best! You two will have a blast!

The closest I've ever been to seeing them on my birthday was this year.

My birthday is July 18th which happened to be the day before Wrigley. That turned out to be a pretty decent show! :D

I may not have seen the show on my birthday but I got to stand in a merch line for 3 hours and meet some really cool people! Plus I'll always be able to look back and see my friend & I standing in that line on that cool YouTube video of the line that day!

My first show (Phoenix 98) was two days after my birthday. All GA show and we were all dying out in the heat waiting in that line. I'm so glad they decided to return to Phoenix (after 10.5 years) in November rather than a bday show for me

Nope, though my b-day is in the summer(next year it will be on a Friday)...and the Gorge is an awesome place to see a show...and people are dying to see PJ at the Gorge again...a girl can always dream. (*hint*hint*wink*wink*)

It has never happened, and I don't think it ever will.

Sometimes I get a hockey game scheduled on my birthday.

So I've got that going for me ... which is nice.

The re-birth of Leash. Fucking awesome.

I proposed to my wife that night after the show from the dirty floor of Bukowski Tavern, where we had our first date about 7 years before. We were even sitting at the same table.

The poster hangs in our daughter's room.

Ed was supposed to play Austin on my birthday last year (late April). Got selected in the lottery and it was getting down to the wire to book travel when the postponement was announced so luckily I just had to get the tickets refunded.

Only shows I've been to on or around my birthday were Dr. Dog in 2010 which was a lot of fun and we saw Jane's Addiction at the Santa Barbara Bowl on the eve of my 21st birthday. SB Bowl shows end at 10pm due to curfew so we were still able to hit the town once the clock struck midnight. :D

I'm with SuzieMay in thinking that if they play anywhere on my birthday, I'll probably have to make the trip!

I don’t think it could get any better than seeing PJ on your Birthday however, buying the Calgary poster with the date on it and hopefully catching a pick would really put the icing on the Birthday cake for your son!

I have been fortunate to see Eddie Vedder on my Birthday 11/28 (and Matt Cameron’s Birthday too) last year when Ed was in Orlando. Yes, I lost the lotto for all of the tickets I requested but luckily I still made it to the show. I drove up from Miami Beach and I had to buy the poster and the postcard / t-shirt that night as a memory. It was the best Birthday yet!! Then I was able to see Ed for the next 2 shows in Fort Lauderdale for my Birthday weekend, it was truly amazing!
