I'm not the emotional type, but this whole story has truly touched me. Being married for just over one year, I can't begin to imagine the heartache and hell you have been having to endure, Adam. I'm so happy the band heard your request and honored your wife. 40,000 people were able to celebrate her life right along side with you, many of whom knowing full well the meaning of that song. Any given song at any given concert can be taken personally to anyone who feels a connection to it, but that one was all yours. To me, THAT is what this band is all about. I don't know if you realize this, but your story has brought so many perfect strangers together through the memory of your wife. I think I can speak for all of us when I say that that song now belongs to you and your wife. I wasn't at the show, but I'll always remember your story when I hear it. I wish you all the best.
Strong work, Pearl Jam family.
You couldn't have hit it more on the head. It really isn't a cliché...we genuinely do have the greatest band, with the greatest fans. We are family.Ed...buddy...pal...stay true to your word and play Boise again.

Holy shit. Im sitting at work crying like a baby. I will no doubt think of sarah every time I hear this song for the rest of my life. Absolutely beautiful dedication. Thank you PJ, adam and sarah!0

just thought, there was some good in that first setlist leaking.....comeback came forward from the encores and this perfect moment came true.0

When they played this song I burst into tears. The images of Sarah from your video popped into my head and when I looked up at the sky there were little flashes of light... I got my phone out and recorded the sky and at the end of the song a huge burst of light filled the sky... I looked at my husband and said... Sarah is here she just lit up the sky with here smile... Adam I am so sorry for your loss but I believe your angel was there and she was beaming! I have to say I have never been prouder to be a Pearl Jam fan than I was when Eddie talked about Sarah and made one sweet wish come true...angels be with you and your family always

Video of Sarah's Smile
Thanks for sharing this. I only hope Sarah knows how many lives she is touching, she would have never believed it when she was with us.___________________________________________________________

I may be hearing things, but right before it goes into Mike's solo (about the 6:25 mark in the video posted) in the "it's ok part" it sounds like Ed sings: "it's ok....Andy it'll be ok" It's kind of mumbled there. It gave me goosebumps though. Just an awesome even all around.0

Adam- i had tears rolling down my face when i heard him talk about your wife, when i got back to NJ i told my wife the story and she was bawling, my buddy who was with me was astounded when i told him about the message board, unbeleiveable- i am sure this doesnt take away the pain but i hope it helped...i can honestly say that after that moment i have an even higher respect for Pearl Jam and their true connection with us, the fans. Good luck and stay strong brother.

I've been telling everyone at work who will listen this story. It's hard to tell teh story and hard to listen to it without welling up a little bit. I've definately created some PJ fans by telling this story.
So sorry for your loss. I hope hearing the song helped in a little tiny way.Toronto Sept 96. Barrie Aug 98. Toronto Oct 00. Toronto June 03. Hamilton Sept 05. Toronto May 06. Toronto Aug 09. Toronto Sept 11. London July 13. Toronto May 16 (I & II).

your story is heart wrenching. happy, yet truly horrible. so sorry for the loss of your wife, but happy you could live out her last wishes like that. this stuff kills me.Just, not enough.
I need more.
Nothing seems to satisfy.
I said, I dont want it.
I just need it.
To breathe, to feel, to know Im alive.0 -
Once Eddie started talking about dedicating this song to your wife I instantly started crying and cried through the entire song.
I was elated that he played it for you and in that moment thought of you and your wife. I was even more proud of Eddie & PJ when he spoke of you and your wife, dedicating it to her. I can't even imagine how special this is for you and love that the band loves us fans so much to do something like this for you.
Sorry for your loss and hope this helps in the healing.0 -

I will always remember this part of the night - reading your point of view of the experience had a lump in my throat and tears in my eyes - thank you for sharing
I had seen your thread requesting the song and so hoped they would play it
My Dad passed last October - it was unexpected and awful - Music has also helped me - although most of the time it just makes me think of how much I miss him and how much of a void there will be in my sons life....
so I was also personally hoping for Come Back as well... (as well as Release or Man of the Hour - they all connect me to my Dad)
When Ed started talking about you I turned to my friend and said "wow they did it"
Then as Ed was talking I started thinking about my Dad and I looked to the sky... when I looked back down they started the song and the lighting changed to orange light... well it just took me to a different place... orange was my Dad's favorite color...
I'm sure they were above looking down on us and enjoying the song together... Take Care of yourself Adam0 -
Incredible story man. Stay strong. So sorry for your loss, but I'm really glad the band played "Come Back " for you and your wife. Listened to the youtube video and it blew me away.
Take care0 -
Many thoughts and prayers with you and your loved one. I can't imagine what it has been like for you, but if there is any comfort to be found during one of life's most heartbreaking times.... It would be having a song dedicated to you and your wife during a PJ show. The irony of feeling the most love during life's darkest moments is one I can never quite understand. Much luck to you as you continue to heal!0
