This. So glad they played this for you and Sarah and we all got to share in it. Best wishes to you, and many more PJ shows.

I love the puppy in the Braves hat photo!!! I am a huge Braves fan (of course Friday is the only day they won at the White Sox!) and have three dogs myself. I have one dog who would allow me to put a hat on him. Would love to take my pooch to the ballpark!

The second I heard Ed begin the story I knew this was going to happen. I felt the energy soar like never before. So glad this band goes far above and beyond themselves. It's never been about them or the money, but the music and the fans. So happy I was a part of this moment.

    Hugs,

I was so happy they played it for you and I'm so happy to hear you had such a great time. I got choked up just thinking about how you must have been feeling. It had a personal meaning for me as well, having lost my mom early this year and knowing what my dad went through afterwards. It was such a great moment. Gotta love this band!

As soon as Ed started doing the dedication before the song, my jaw dropped...I was like, "Oh my God, he's talking about the guy on the message pit, that thread that's been there for months!" I was floored. If there's nothing else that I take away from this concert (and it was a pretty special experience for me all around, despite the mishaps), it's that this is a band that goes out of their way to do special things for the fans. This is the reason I've followed them for so long, and will continue to follow them. May her memory live on...

Unreal words you wrote. So glad to hear about your feelings and to learn even more about you and the passing of your wife. I've mentioned this already a few times, that single moment, Ed telling the story and then playing Come Back will always be the reason why this Wrigley show will never be topped for me. That really was an incredibly emotional moment. I've definitely never shed tears at a concert, but there was no not doing that when that song started. I am listening to the ending of the studio version of Come Back as I type this and I realize that since Friday, this song will always mean so much more to me than it ever did before.

I always wondered what I would do or say if I ever had the opportunity to meet Ed and I have now figured out what that is. It'll be "Thanks". Thanks for honoring you and your wife by playing it at wrigley. I hope to one day meet him just to tell him that. Makes me even happier that that was the first time I'd heard the song live.

I hope to one day meet you Adam. This story will definitely be one I tell to many many people as to why I love this band and love attending so many shows.

When Ed started talking about you and your wife I was so glad this was happening for you, having followed your thread. The whole time they performed Come Back I was thinking about you and how you must be feeling at that very moment, and I thought about people loving each other and losing each other and how people in the park who had suffered this kind of loss were being connected in this beautiful way... It was really amazing, and I think there was a LOT of love shooting your way at that moment! :)

Wow, thanks for posting this! That audio is awesome. You can tell they nearly started the song and maybe Eddie recalled or someone reminded him to say the dedication.

I am still thinking of changing my name to Andy!

Thanks to you, Sarah's wonderful husband, and the greatest band on Earth, tens of thousands of people will always remember her, and think of her when they hear Come Back. I just watched the youtube video tribute- so wonderfully heartbreaking. Her smile is contagious and we are all so overjoyed that Pearl Jam heard and heeded your request.

Hugs to you and high fives for your sense of humor (Andy is a good name after all:)

    PEARL JAM. YOU ROCK.

    Fantastic!!!!

During the show, I was watching...(ok...listening...quite hard to keep a browser open and follow the setlist thread AND the sign generator AND the earthcam...in retrospect, I probably could have done it differently, but oh well..)

via EarthCam and made Wrigley Field signs to "announce" the songs... Each sign was unique in a different way...here's one:

See the rest of the signs at the below link, if anyone's interested:

I am tearing up because I feel so moved by your story. I am sending so much love, light and peace to you and Sarah. What an incredibly beautiful story...thank you for you taking the time to share it. Thank you Pearl Jam for giving him this gift of support and love.
Lots of love, light and hugs to you all!
  • First of all, so sorry for you loss! Sarah was obviously a wonderful woman that you loved very much. Pearl Jam has a quality that no other band has. Keep on believing and keep on feeling. Be open and good things will come to you. I saw PJ for the first time in London. When I got back home I opened a Ten Club email and I got drawn for 3 upcoming shows! You just never know....

I am not sure if the big screen showed this or not, but I was close enough to the front to see Ed look up towards the sky after he finished the song. He looked up and smiled as if he was telling Sarah "nice to meet you..." I have no doubt that she was giving him a big high-five from heaven.
It's nice to be nice to the nice.

Where we were sitting it was hard to tell at times what Eddie was saying. I searched for a while for a good version of this song because I thought it was for you. Not going to lie, it brought tears to my eyes again seeing it on the video. I can truly say that I'm glad I was there and will always think of you and your wife every time I hear it from now on. Pearl Jam and their fans are truly some of the best!!!!! :)

Through all the nonsense, both positive and negative, this board has to offer, it's pretty amazing to witness something so moving. I'm not the emotional type, but this whole story has truly touched me. Being married for just over one year, I can't begin to imagine the heartache and hell you have been having to endure, Adam. I'm so happy the band heard your request and honored your wife. 40,000 people were able to celebrate her life right along side with you, many of whom knowing full well the meaning of that song. Any given song at any given concert can be taken personally to anyone who feels a connection to it, but that one was all yours. To me, THAT is what this band is all about. I don't know if you realize this, but your story has brought so many perfect strangers together through the memory of your wife. I think I can speak for all of us when I say that that song now belongs to you and your wife. I wasn't at the show, but I'll always remember your story when I hear it. I wish you all the best.
    Strong work, Pearl Jam family.
