I'm bummed they played "Alone" because I was really hoping for that at Wrigley and it's doubtful now.

    They didn't play come back

It was a great show...what were u expecting OP??? Man, some folks are way too critical...it wasn't a greatest hits set, it was 30 songs, had great energy...please tell me how it could've been any better?

That setlist is near perfect IMHO
I am sure it was great

Also think it was near perfect IMO. I would probably give my right you know what to have seen it. I of course have some favorites that I would like to see added, but the percentage of great tunes was definitely there. I'm hoping Wrigley is as good actually.

I could see Wrigley turning into s greatest hits setlist and that is my worst nightmare.

the show was awesome as usual. My bro in law went with and he was amazed with it as well. Where people say the encore was blah, you would have to be there to feel and be a part of what took place. As I read here earlier, it may look standard on paper but when experiencing it live is another thing.

    They never disappoint.

If you go to a show with tons of energy, and are not worn out by the end, then you were never in it to begin with.

posted this in a separate thread, but it should go in here! Show #18 for me. Nothing like the head nod from so many fans... PM me if we chatted...would love to connect on facebook...here's a picture from late last night..

Set list - A- - it was fantastic to see the band play with versions of their songs... also, have they ever played "London calling" before?? ...and ending with indifference?? Awesome!!

New stage/lighting - A+ - by far the most amazing and intricate stage they have had. the lighting was top notch too...

Venue lighting - F - turning the house lights on at 10:25?? Simply unacceptable.... was at Paul McCartney in Ottawa last Sunday, and even at midnight, the house lights were off.

Security - F--- - completely the most incompetent group of people I've ever seen...were acting like jerks to so many fans last night. From the pat down to just being dicks. From an optics POV, It's stupid to see security covering their ears during a show...

10c pick up - D - horrible, horrible, horrible mess, especially in the heat...it's a wonder more people didn't faint in the heat waiting 45mins plus for tickets.

Merch - D - see 10c pick up comments. 2 places to buy and absolute mayhem in terms of lines. Additionally, nothing special this time, except for a fantastic sticker.... very ordinary t-shirts. Saved money for wishlist! :)

Wishlist pre-party - C - Venue far too small and the venue looked overwhelmed. I brought in about 10 12x18 concert photos for the gang, and hope they sold a ton! I've got nothing but mad love for all the Wishlist gang... the $10 cover charge to come in for the post-party was a bit much, but good vibe, and the cover band was surprisingly good...

Finally - so great to meet so many old and new pearl jam fans and be part of a community. Nothing like the head nod from so many fans... PM me if we chatted...would love to connect on facebook...here's a picture from late last night..

I think it was a better than usual set list.

Has Present tense ever opened a show? I really dont know.

Sad, in hiding, Brain of J, I got Shoit, Last Exit, and holy moly: ALONE!

Ok, this set looks amazing the more I think about it, (I could do without Last Kiss  )

sometimes the greatest hits setlists are the better shows. sometimes the rarity shows actually suck performance wise. sometimes they're good. my point? Unless you have the boot it's impossible to judge a PJ show based on setlist alone. It's all about performance, energy, crowd, etc.

With that being said, that's an awesome way to open a PJ show. Throw in Alone and In Hiding and i'm intrigued enough to buy the boot.

Amazing set list. I love it on paper, and would have loved it had I been there.
Why some people are saying "eh" to it, is beyond me.

The band themselves were on fire. Of the 3 shows I've seen, definitely the best performance of them all. Eddie's vocals were great, just great. He was crushing everything, it was amazing.

I think the OP is setting their expectations way too high. This setlist was very good.

    01. Present Tense- great opener which has only been done a few times
    02. Nothing Man- no one would expect this song to be played second
    03. Elderly Woman Behind The Counter In A Small Town
    04. London Calling-(Jones, Strummer)/Corduroy
    05. Mind Your Manners- debut!
    06. Got Some
    07. Given To Fly
    08. Sad- not played too often- one of their best b-sides
    09. Alone- see Sad
    10. Even Flow
    11. I Got Shit
    12. In Hiding
    13. Lukin
    14. Not For You/Modern Girl-(Sleater Kinney)
    15. Black
    16. Porch

    Encore Break:

    17. Last Exit- great opening to encore
    18. Last Kiss-
    19. Parachutes- rare!
    20. Man Of The Hour- played less than people realize
    21. Just Breathe
    22. Daughter
    23. Unthought Known
    24. Do The Evolution

    Encore Break 2

    25. Smile
    26. Brain Of J- unexpected surprise at this point of the set
    27. Better Man
    28. Alive
    29. Rockin’ In The Free World-(Young)
    30. Indifference- best closer
    severed hand thirteen

Good Setlist...I would of been Happy...:)
  • That set list looks awesome. Opening with present tense, and closing with indifference. I love the fact that they played in hiding. Two weeks ago there was a thread on here entitled who on here has seen in hiding live. More people can be added to that list.

setlist was fine for a regular show but this show was hyped as an evening with pearl jam. no opener hence something special . yes eds vocals were great, true gems alone and parachutes . you could catch a setlist like this any where on the tour. disappointed not lots or songs rarely played. sorry if offend the hypnotized .
  • didn't read through all the posts, but special guests? Are you kidding? What guests could be more special than seeing Eddie, Mike, Jeff, Stone, Matt and Boom up on that stage?

i support any show where Brain of J is played. One of the two best album openers ever (with Once).
  • If I'm not mistaken Brain Of J was played at the request of Chris Chelios.

It was a great show. I do think the expectations were just so high, and everyone assumed that something really special would happen with it being billed as "A Night With Pearl Jam", which it was, just like every other show they've ever played. Nothing really to set it apart, aside from there not being an opening act.

Also not sure how much this has been pointed out, but there were a bunch of video cameras in the security pit in front of the stage. Wouldn't say it was enough to be doing a DVD, but there were atleast three cameras in front, maybe to have a look at the new stage set up or something.

    Anyways, great show.

Yes! In Hiding Live = amazing! (Yes, that's me screaming on the Newark 2010 boot  )

Some people are SPOILED! That was an incredible set. I was hoping for something similar in Missoula, and nope. That said, Missoula was still an incredible show because the band was on fire.

Song choices and placement make this set great. Maybe you didn't get a bunch of super-rare songs that you'd grade as an A+ getting live, but this show was packed with A-/A songs. If I get this exact set at any of the fall shows I will be ecstatic.

Come Back was played??? I love that tune...didn't see it on the setlist threads...
I kind of giggle when people criticize the setlists - even though people are entitled to do so...its just funny to me. Here we have a band that has yet to play a duplicate set in their history and it still isn't enough. "meh"? :D Last night, from the bystander living vicariously through this forum and Twitter, looked like an amazing set, with many "holy crap they just played..." moments.
If anything, this makes me wish (and sad) I was Wrigley on Friday...all signs point to a phenomenal show with a few setlist    's
Nothing from Binaural or Riot Act - perhaps that changes Fri.
    Hail Hail the lucky ones...indeed.

    i do like Binaural however....

In my opinion that was an awesome set list (Man of the Hour, Sad, Black, Indifference, Unthought Known, Last Exit, Parachutes).

They have a vast repertoire of songs to choose from. In every show there is bound to be some that people are psyched about and others that were passed over.

I haven't been on this board for a long time. But one thing hasn't changed. PJ fans remain among the hardest in the world to please.

They're back on tour- I'm stoked!

Brain of J was actually played for some dude from Denmark. The setlist on here reads pretty cool but it was a great show to be in the room for!
