If that person is worried about weight loss, wouldn't a long term plan be better?

I think I see where you are going with this. What good is it if you're not going to permanently change your lifestyle.
I agree.
and we can all say with some certainty that Ed is not going to stop drinking and smoking
maybe smoking, but not drinking
it actually doesn't seem very healthy to me, depriving your body and your organs of nutrients for an extended period of time sounds more dangerous than anything else.Don't come closer or I'll have to go0 -

Someone once asked me, "What one thing in the past five years are you most proud of?" My answer was "quitting smoking." Because I seriously thought I'd never be able to quit. I thought it would eventually kill me.
same same situation here
I am glad I did it but even after 19 months it's still pretty hard sometimes for me to think I am not a smoker anymore...really, especially when smoking is the topicBudapest.Budapest.Arnhem.Antwerpen.Vienna.Madrid.Katowice.Nova_rock.Nijmegen.Rotterdam.Berlin.Dublin.Belfast.London.Venice.Prague.Stockholm.Copenhagen.Vienna.Leeds.Milton_keynes.Padova.Prague.Seattle1.Seattle2.Chicago1.Budapest.Cracow.Vienna..>>>LONDON.BERLIN1.BERLIN2

I don't know what to tell you, Riscard, because I relate.
During my 10 years as a smoker I quit once for eight months when I was 21 but I never felt like I'd quit. I felt like a smoker who was just depriving myself. Then I started again after bumming smokes from people at parties.
But something was different when I quit two years ago and I have never looked back. It might have been mental. I mean, I woke up one day and realized that I'd been a smoker for 10 of my 28 years on this earth and it shocked me. I realized I WOULD DIE AN EARLY DEATH if I didn't quit, and smoking wasn't exactly winning me a lot of points among the ladies. So for some reason it was just different. When I quit cold turkey I made a commitment to NEVER smoke again, not even for old times' sakes. That might have been the difference.
Good luck. And I hope Ed really is trying to quit with his cleanse. I know a cleanse has a lot of benefits, but quitting smoking has to absolutely be the best among them.0 -

Ms. Haiku wrote:Yes, I agree to each his own. Not all food is toxic, though. Also, I suspect I would have less insomnia if I ate dinner earlier, and worked out more later in the day. I would explore those options first before a cleanse. About a year ago I researched ways to clean up my system by reading articles through google. I always went back to, "How would my eating habits change if I did this?" Instead, I added more fruit/vegetables to my diet and created a more sustainable healthy lifestyle.
I don't have a problem with not eating for 24 hours and getting those toxins to the surface. Just flush those toxins out with gorgeous fruit and vegetables and water. Then add more varieties of food back.
The main question, and why I'm skeptical about cleanses, and the master cleanse in particular, is how many people who go through the cleanse change their lifestyles to reflect a healthier attitude afterwards? Did that person learn anything about a healthy lifestyle? If they did, then why would they do a cleanse again? Don't they feel good already? If that person is worried about weight loss, wouldn't a long term plan be better?
On the flip side I can totally understand spiritual fasts, but it's to slow down the body processes to obtain the goal. I was on a 2 day winter solstice fruit fast. I felt great afterwards, but instead of needing it again the next year I just decided to add more fruit to my lifestyle throughout the year. If I needed that level of stillness I could just go back, but I'm doing a ok.
I don't know about you but the majority of people I know that are even interested or would attempt to a fast are already healthy in their everyday lives. A little drink here and there. Maybe even a little fried food every once in a while but mostly consuming healthy foods. Like we all have heard many times and I believe; moderation is key.
Not to argue; more like a debate: I still think there is a huge difference between a fruit fast and a water/lemonade fast. Mainly because of the fact that with the liquid fast, you are giving your digestion system a break. That gives the body a chance to clean out impurities that are deep within the tissues (like the colon, for instance).
But yeah, everyone has to figure out what works for them and the fact that we are talking about it brings it to the ears to some that may have never heard about it before or never thought people actually did them in this century. Who knows?
ANyways, nice discussion, thanks!*KRISTAL*XOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXO
