My last three PJ shows have opened with this song so it seems Ed is hot for this as an opener.
Christ, I hope they don't play it at all, much less open with it.
But seriously, I think the odds are extremely low on this one.0 -

Let me clarify, I don't want to hear it as an opener. After the first note of the shows where I saw it as an opener I said to myself "No great show has ever started with Elderly Woman". But I think being Ed's hometown combined with a mixture of hard core fans to fans only of Wrigley/beer, Ed will want to get the singing started early. So I think there is a good chance Elderly Woman starts it.
This will be show where Ed wants the entire crowd singing and dancing with smiles on their faces. That will mean success. This isn't a fan club show (in the sense of a lot of deep, deep cuts). There will be no Alpine Valley Night 1 setlist. Sorry Riot Act and Binaural fans, you will be lucky to get more than a song played that night.
This is a setlist to look forward to. It will be interesting to see where Ed goes with it.0 -

I certainly hope not - I really think there is no way this actually happens for this show.
As I've said before in this thread:
My heart says Hard To Imagine.
My head says Release.
My gut says Corduroy.
I think Hard To Imagine or Release will open, but a part of me thinks they may come out like a sledge hammer and open with Corduroy and then go right into Go, Animal, Last Exit, etc.
I can't say enough how much I hope HTI is played at some point during the night. Man I can't wait for this show. It will be extremely interesting to see what Ed decides to go with for this show. I do like hearing that they've already been thinking quite a bit about this show.Bristow, VA - 5.13.10

I've got all my eggs in the basket for HTI to open.
The show is going to be so epic, it won't matter if they don't. But come on, we will be participants in what could possibly be the best show they've EVER played. That is possible with HTI as an opener.2003 Dallas

While it is a quite weak opener it did open Grand Rapids 06 which is considered one of the best shows of the 06 tour, so it does not mean the show won't be great, it just means your opener isn't as great is it could have been.Alpine Valley 6/26/98, Alpine Valley 10/8/00, Champaign 4/23/03, Chicago 6/18/03, Alpine Valley 6/21/03, Grand Rapids 10/3/04

I'd say 3 hrs at a minimum. Their shows with an opener are usually 2 hr 15 min to 2 hr 30 min, take out the opener and that they go on around 7:30 (although i'm expecting a little later than that, but not much) and that the curfew is 11 (although I think they will go a little past that). Just my guess though, wishful thinking.Alpine Valley 6/26/98, Alpine Valley 10/8/00, Champaign 4/23/03, Chicago 6/18/03, Alpine Valley 6/21/03, Grand Rapids 10/3/04

I'm thinking and hoping it will be a 3+ hour show. With no opening band and billed as "An Evening With Pearl Jam" thing, I think one of the two London and Wrigley shows will get an opening acoustic set. I think that would make more sense at London given the smaller, more intimate venue and might not work as well at Wrigley (although it would be amazing). So I hope for Wrigley they put together one of those longer shows that is just 3+ hours of rocking out. Given the obvious hype and venue of this show, what Stone has said, and Ed's hometown and life long Cubs fan - I think they will put together something special and throw a lot of gems in there. It's going to be very interesting to see what Ed does with the set list for this show.
Now, if I can just get through this next full work week and then only 3 days next week. It's going to be a epic show.Post edited by YLed2 onBristow, VA - 5.13.10

Just being in that stadium on a Friday night in the summer is a special experience.
Add live Pearl Jam and, well, that is about as good as it gets.
I am thinking they might come out guns blazing

but that is just masturbatory speculation0 -

I still say it's gotta be either Hard To Imagine or Release to open the show. One of the two - gotta be.
