    great golf tournament ... really came down to the golf gods today i say ...

    not a fan of phil but that was a great interview ... showed a lot of class with his honesty ...

    ya media room ... he gave great insight ... i know you mentioned bones gave him the wrong yardage but that's kind of shocking considering everyone was hitting sand wedge or at most gap all weekend ... the green isn't that big to call for a wedge ... especially if you're gonna draw it where you get even more yardage ...

    Oh I agree, it was a really good interview. Bones said 127 with the wind and rain, you cluld hear it on tv. Official yardage was 121 I believe. Could have been the difference. End of the day, obviously up to Phil tl be comfortable and execute. Just a big spot for the mics to catch that

    phil didn't deserve to win the way he was putting yesterday. congrats to rose.


    way to be merion and hats off to the main line and the city of philadelphia. everyone expected the worst, but we came through with flying colors. hopefully it comes back in 10 years or so.

    got a gift card to put towards golf lessons for my birthday this weekend. bout time i make my comeback. ;)

    I don't mind him. He's a total dork/fanboy but I never really found him to be all that smug.

    Speaking of Costas, what the hell was up with that stupid "U.S. Bank Sports Update" crap during the Open? It was like a half-time show of sorts....during a golf tournament. And if there were other big sporting events going on, I can understand an update segment. But yesterday, with nothing else to show, Costas showed highlights of the Mets/Cubs game. Like...who gives a fuck about that? Then he hyped the Stanely Cup Finals. I get it...NBC Sports Network is televising the Stanley Cup and since nobody watches it except for fans of the teams in it, a reminder that it's actually going on makes sense. But if I'm watching a golf major, I'm not looking to watch post-game hockey interviews in the middle of it. I've always felt that NBC's gold telecasts sucked compared to CBS's, and these updates didn't do much to sway that opinion.

    Phil's putting was horrible (statistically the worst of anyone yesterday) but I think his poor wedge play was even more of a problem. I don't know what the hell happened on that par three where he hit it long and pulled it. And then that hole where he ended up having to do pitch shot on the green. That was a hole that lots of players were getting close for birdie attempts. Pretty surprising to see him not get his approach shot up over the ridge.

    yeah ... in interviews after he basically said his 2 double bogey should have been bogeys but the two shots he's gonna think back on were his shots into 13 and 15 ... he totally misclubbed on 13 ... could have been told bad yardage ... and on 15 he said he quit on it ... on 13 ... bogey is close to a 2 shot swing ...

    i thought 13 was the easiest on the whole course. once he didn't birdie there, you had a feeling it wasn't going to be his day...despite only being 1 back at the time, i think.
