No, but seriously, when a rule is stupid or unfair or discriminatory, I think it's important for people to fight against that rule, not bow down before it.
If it is THAT important to her, then she should take it up. They can hire a lawyer and sue the school... and when they lose, they should have to pay court costs and the school's legal bills.
...
Personally, I think she is acting like a spoiled little shit. She can still wear that dress out to a formal dinner or a wedding or to church or whatever else y'all wear those dresses to. The dress isn't against the law... she is still free to wear it where ever she wants. She is trying to make it a bigger deal than it is.
And her parents... i think they are acting like assholes. With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Strive to be happy. ~ Desiderata0 -

Which is what her damn parents should have told her.
I have some women that are ample in the girly curves that look GREAT in clothes that suit them well.
and i have see girls that are wearing things they... welll, they really should NOT be wearing.
...
From a woman's perspective... an Olympic Swimmer or Water Polo dude in Speedos probably looks pretty good to you gals, right?
A guy with the same shape and landscaping features as Ron Jeremy (without the offsetting package) in Speedos... well... what?Allen Fieldhouse, home of the 2008 NCAA men's Basketball Champions! Go Jayhawks!

I know... but, sometimes, there SHOULD be laws against that.
Just go to the local Wal-Mart.

This sums up this story pretty well. These people essentially challenged the school rules and then the daughter had egg on her face as the school didn't compromise their standards.
The school sounds as if they tried to help her out in the situation by providing a shawl or something, but the girl didn't deal with the rejection of her dress very well and she left. It's unfortunate, but it sounds as if guidelines were clear enough to have avoided this situation. There are several tasteful designs that could have suited this girl's body type without leaving the boobs so visible. Obviously, those designs were not pursued.
As the thread title suggests, the mom is trying to blame the school instead of looking in the mirror as she let her daughter out of the house and set up for failure. Take responsibility, man. Take responsibility."My brain's a good brain!"0 -
