London in July - This show will be EPIC

Here is why:
1. It will have been over 100 days since their last show. They will be itching to hit the stage.
2. This is a warm-up gig for one of PJ's most important shows of their career - Wrigley Field.
3. The arena will be packed to the rafters. I would estimate that at least 65% of the people in attendance are hardcore PJ fans.
4. If the band pay any attention to their ticket sales, which I'm sure they do, they will realize that this show is one of their most in demand tickets in years. People are paying $250 for upper bowl seats. This feels like 1993.
5. The band loves playing in Ontario. Listen to any boots from the past 10 years (Toronto 2003, Hamilton/Ottawa 2005, Toronto/Hamilton 2012) and listen to how Ed speaks highly of each city.
6. Why London? Why not Indianapolis, Cleveland, Milwaukee, Detroit, Ann Arbor, Grand Rapids? Maybe it's just a stroke of luck for us that live close to London, but it just seems odd... and has set the stage for perhaps a potentially epic show like Montana last year.
Feel free to dispute, refute or discuss...

yes i agree fully with you . also since they have played this market area many times and as you have so rightly stated that at least 65 percent will be hard core pearl jam fans i hope they don't see the need to play all the hits but rather a show for the fans with a lot of songs on the setlist that haven't been played often along with a bunch of rarities and maybe even a new song or two. lets hope.0

I think it will be epic because Ed goes off on the setlists at smaller venues, I am sure there will be a bunch of rarities to satisfy the hardcore fan, may be the best boot of 20130

Montana was epic?0

I completely agree. This show is gonna be packed with rarities and the band should be a lot looser than they would be at Wrigley. Wrigley may be a better overall event, but this is gonna be a better PJ show.0

I literally nearly had a heart attack when I read this post, thinking PJ were about to play London, England! Completely forgot about London, Canada, especially amidst all the Wrigley talk!
This might pass, this might last, this may grow0 -
still trying to obtain a ticket.0

I know right! The London show is being totally overshadowed by the Wrigley talk on the forum. Maybe because Budweiser Gardens is about 1/5 of the size of Wrigley so a lot less people are going??? I still think it will be EPIC as the op stated and I can't wait!!!!!! 0 -
Here's my refute you told me I was free to do

1) You think they like performing on stage? What gives you that impression? Their heavy tour schedule the past few years??
2) The words "warm up" and "epic" don't really go together? :nono:
3) Sold out stadiums don't mean a thing. And please tell me how you came to the number 65?? Picked it out of a hat or went to http://www.random.org?
4) It's a tough ticket because the venue holds 9,000 people. Why would the band care what people are paying on the aftermarket? :problem:
5) Ed speaks highly of ever city while on stage in that city. He only means it in Boston. :-D
6) Ed's wife lost a bet to Justin Beiber when the Lightning beat the Rainmen. :lolno:

I've been wondering this too....I mean I'm happy because it's a smaller venue so it will be a bit more intimate (although it didn't make getting tickets any easier!!) but why the hell did they pick London? I mean if they wanted a Canadian venue I would have thought Toronto would be the choice as it's a bigger city, more/bigger venues to choose from, and it would be easier for the band to fly in and out of. Not complaining though...I live pretty much halfway between Toronto and London but it's a hell of a lot easier for me to get to London than to get to Toronto on a weekday!!ScReaMing LunGs wrote:6. I think the Op is clearly excited about this show.
and i know i would be too......we all get excited when dates approach, and usually all kind of wierd rumours or hype start getting talked about.
However If it was a choice of wrigley or this one, I think Id rather be at the London show0 -
I'm really confident this show will be better than Wrigley...
I honestly can't wait for this show.0 -
I too would pick London over Wrigley0

Would still love to be heading to Chicago but fam obligations sometimes get in the way :xjesus greets me looks just like me ....0 -
You know, in PJ20 When Crowe is talking to Vedder, Vedder says "In a smaller venue you can try weirder stuff...you can get away with a lot more."
Budweiser Gardens is pretty small in comparison to all the venues they've played in the last few years, you know...0 -
All I know is this: Last time I saw them in London (2005), yes it was epic.
I haven't seem them since the two shows in Amsterdam, so they really, really miss me right about now.
They haven't played in a while and have been in the studio, so you know they are ready to ROCK (aren't they always?)!
Josevolution will be in attendance.
They love Canada (doesn't everybody?)!
They are the greatest band in the world.
These are just a few of the many reasons this show will be epic!I was alone and far away when I heard the band start playing!
...I was always a DeadHead, but when I first heard Winston Rodney, aka the Burning Spear, sing, I became a SpearHead too!0
