Prayers For My Friends

Alex started round 2 of chemo yesterday. Taking it well so far. A post from his daddy:
It's been a fairly routine weekend and that was very welcome. Chemo starts up again tomorrow. 5 days of outpatient. Alex still does not want to shave his head yet. We'll have to work with 'Aunt' Jessy and see if we can convince him.
Alex was able to visit his school while we dropped of paperwork for the girls. They have generously donated their time in watching them when Alex is in chemo. That will help a lot.
I was marveling at the numbers Facebook gives on all of you. At its peak, there were 500,000 people that our posts were in front of. Thank you for sharing his story. Your continued help really makes a difference in our lives.
I was thinking about heroes today. Growing up during one of the peaks of the comic book age, I and others tend to think of heroes as people with superhuman abilities. Alex has that in his own way but that's not what a hero is, is it. I think it's person that causes us to think different about our lives. They make us aspire to something else and lets us know that greater things are possible and some things just aren't important.
Watching a 4 year old go through things that bring even adults to their knees is quite inspiring. I hope Alex's and all the other kids stories of going through this do that for you. It has certainly given me a new bar by which to measure my life.

My prayers continue for strength for Alex as I hold my own son about his same age in my arms. I can't imagine the strength needed to concur such a challenge. I believe in the power of prayer and will include Alex and his family. I wish there was more I could do...

Thinking about Alex and sending positive Chi. Also hoping that he was able to have an enjoyable Thanksgiving despite his challenges. Wishing all involved better days ahead! Please let me know if there is anything I can do to lift his spirits (I'm not on Facebook).
