Thanks for the kind words and support - my friends really need it right now, I feel like I'm taking this perilous journey with them...wish I could be there to hold their hands.

When dad collapsed and was taken to hospital and diagnosed with leukaemia then and there. It was devastating. However my first reaction was to contact my sister, his girlfriend, my grandmother- his mum, and close friends. I offered them my support which gave them strength to pass on to my dad. We all helped each other through it. It was a dark time to begin with, but we all found courage for his sake and discovered that we were all made of strong stuff. You are taking this journey with them, your helping to carry this heavy load. Just be there for them when they need it. & in turn, I'm always a PM away if you need some yourself x love to you & yours.
Sometimes I speak of nothing at all.

  • Best wishes to your friends and their son. It is a terribly difficulty situation to be in. My daughter was diagnosed at 3 months of age with retinoblastoma (cancer of the retina in the eyes). She turns 7 next week. 9 rounds of systemic chemotherapy, 3 rounds of locally injected chemotherapy, 50 days of radiation, over 200 general anesthetic appointments, many surgeries, the loss of one eye, being legally blind in the other eye, a chart that is literally about two feet thick..... I could go on for awhile.

Despite all of the above, I can't imagine my life without her. It certainly has not been easy on any of us (especially her). I don't know if it is because of all that she has been through or despite of it, but she is a special kid. I can't tell you how many teachers, friends, or other people that meet her say she is so amazing. She really is!

Doctors can do a lot of amazing things these days. The tough part is knowing all that they have to go through. I would do anything to trade places with her but obviously can't. All you can do is love them the best way you can. Once you recover from the initial shock, you eventually get a "routine". It's never easy but it does get better.

If your friends need to talk to someone who can relate somewhat or anything else, we are happy to do what we can. Best wishes to them.

You are all truly beautiful - the kindness is overwhelming. I'll certainly pass this along to my friends, they'll be as touched as I am. By the way, I misspoke - Alex is only 4. Keep sending your positive vibes his way. A heartfelt thank you to you all.

Thinking of you all , I will light a candle and say a prayer for your friend and yourself too. They are lucky to have friends like yourself to turn to for support. When dad was diagnosed with leukaemia I saw our family come together in a way that never had before. & Friends are family too, we all need to take care of each other. They're very fortunate to have you to support them during all this. The support of our friends is what helped us through dads cancer. I'll be thinking of you all. Take care friend.
Much love to you & yours :)

I'll be sure to post updates - Alex loves all things things that have to do with firemen - I just got lucky and secured an authentic helmet for him from a friend of mine that's a lieutenant with the Miramar FD in South Florida. Next up, getting in touch with his local FD and getting him made "honorary firefighter". I just want to try and bring a little joy to his situation. Thanks again for all the love and positive thoughts :) The PJ community is truly amazing!!!!!

Is there any way we could send something to Alex? I know Sammy loved getting cards and things as he went through treatment.
