It's my favorite overall album ever... Sounds great on vinyl0

Superb album, I must say.
An observation I made recently while listening: The organ in "Monty Got A Raw Deal" sounds very similar to the organ used in "Jesus Don't Want Me For A Sunbeam" from Nirvana's MTV Unplugged album. Considering Kurt was such a R.E.M. fan, kind of an interesting thing to be aware of.

Automatic is a great album, and one of my favorite songs is on it (Drive), but Monster is still my favorite REM album, hands down. It's so different and unique from anything they had ever done before or since. Thurston Moore plays on a couple songs, and I can't help but think what a shame it is Kurt Cobain never got to hear it.

One of my favorite albums of all time....so many classics. An album I fall in love with on every single listen. It's pretty much flawless to me!"Sometimes you find yourself having to put all your faith in no faith."

It's a great record and it hasn't really aged, it still sounds as good now as it did in 1992.
The only bad thing about Automatic (and it's only a small gripe) is that it got played to death when it came out. It was everywhere! There were 6 singles released and pretty much 2 years worth of solid radio play. I had to get away from it for a while (thank god for Monster and New Adventures!) but I still love it as a record and Nightswimming is still one of my favourite R.E.M. tracks.“Do not postpone happiness”
(Jeff Tweedy, Sydney 2007)
“Put yer good money on the sunrise”

Kurt listened to it before he took his life which makes some of the songs haunting on the album.Adelaide 17/11/2009, Melbourne 20/11/2009, Sydney 22/11/2009, Melbourne (Big Day Out Festival) 24/01/20140

Oh man! Ignoreland is awesome... so much passion behind those lyrics. Monty is awesome too.0 -

This. You couldn't go anywhere at that time without songs being played to death.
Ignoreland was my favourite tune off that album though- listening to it right now on youtube."My brain's a good brain!"0 -

Totally agree. Awesome song.

Phenomenal album. Drive and Nightswimming being particular stand-outs.
Although I'd probably say Green is my overall favourite.0 -
