the more i read about people pissed about wrigley tix the more i realize how lucky i really am to have gotten IN, let alone get GA tix- i have to admit i did not fully understand the ticketing priority selection. had i REALLY understood it, i wouldn't have put ga as #1, i'd have gone with the "safer" lower bowl selection as #1 (as it seems many of you realized was the best way to ensure you got in). :fp:0

Hmmm.... puffy paint you say....

Well, I think the prioritizing part was fairly straight forward, but I think what most people were overlooking is just how mad of a rush it was going to be for GA (which is kind of what you're saying). My theory was that 10c was going to accommodate as many "1st choices" as possible, meaning if you didn't get GA and it was your 1st choice, they didn't go ahead and automatically give you your 2nd choice. I really think they gave as many GA "1st choices," as many lower reserved "1st choices," and as many upper reserved "1st choices" as possible. That was my theorizing and why I went with lower reserved, GA, upper reserved. I think where people got confused is they conflated "GA = 1st choice" with "if I miss my 1st choice, I get my 2nd choice," which is kind of shitty logic when you think about it. What it actually probably was, was "if I miss my 1st choice, I only get my 2nd choice after all the people who had my 2nd choice as their 1st choice get allotted tickets." It's simpler than it looks on paper, but I think people were definitely confused.1998-06-30 Minneapolis

is this not what happened? it's how i understand it to be. but i didn't understand that until yesterday... by putting for ga first, it ensured i got into the first draw for ga. but it did not ensure i got into a draw for lower or upper, since anyone who put those at number 1 got first crack at those. i assume lower and/or upper had more available tix, so by selecting ga as #1, i really limited my opportunity compared to choosing lower as #1.
i just wanted to be there and ignorantly did what i assume a lot of people did- put ga 1, lower 2 and upper 3. if we ga #1 folks lost, then our chances at getting our #2 selection was dependent on how many tickets were left (if any!) after everyone who selected upper/lower as #1 got their chance at those tickets.
it's that last part that i didn't think through, and i suspect a lot of other people didn't do that either. i knew people who selected lower/upper as #1 had a better shot at THOSE tix, but i didn't put 2+2 together in terms of how it limited my chances at those tickets should i have not gotten my ga #1.
the actual process seems a lot simpler than it is to actually explain!Post edited by AndySlash on0 -

Exactly, I agree with your assessment. I just stated it in a more convoluted way.
For the fall tour, assuming there will be one draw, I think this will be much more cut and dry, on a per show basis.

i assume the same.
it will make it harder for people to score 10c tix to multiple shows, though. which the more i think about it, is fine. this change is in part about giving more fans in 10c an opportunity, and that's what will happen. if you want to do a few shows on the tour, be prepared to be buying more public sale tix.0 -

...if this is true, I agree that it's a good thing. But I also wonder if it really won't have an effect on the ability or ease to buy multiple shows with 10c seats. I definitely think it will for people trying to do the entire east coast leg (that we know is coming), but for the rest of us trying for, say, St. Paul, KC etc (IF we get those shows), the ranking shows system might make it easier.
My head spins just thinking about it. But 10c tickets or public tickets (I've used the latter more), if there are shows that we can make it to, we'll find tickets one way or another.1998-06-30 Minneapolis
