I like it more than about half of the PJ albums as well. I love each and every song on it and cannot get enough of it. I still listen to it almost every single day and I have had it since the day it came out.

Funny I had to force myself to listen all the way though it just once, praying there would be something good. My loss though, of time that is, now it's buried somewhere beneath the stack of discs I never listen too.

Your loss. Seems like alot of people dont like it because it doesnt rock enough. What did you expect? We all know its not Pearl Jam and that the songs were gonna be more folk like. Seeing the movie only made me appreciate the soundtrack more as well. One of my favorite soundtracks of all time.

Not sure that it even approaches any rock album recorded in the last 40 years.

    IMO EV solo = crap

I surmise no EV solo shows for you, huh?

It's a good record, but no, no, and no.

I agree. They really can't be fairly compared. Its like trying to compare Three Fish to Pearl Jam. It just doesn't work.

But just for the sake of argument, I think you might be on crack. ITW is a good solid album, but I like Binaural, and especially "Avocado" far more. I don't get all the Binaural hate.
  • If Into the Wild was a full length album, it would most likely stand up with the best of PJ.

By your logic, Extreme's album Pornograffiti is better than Into The Wild. I'm not following. :)

Clearly, it's something that I'll "come around to." You know, because I didn't buy it the day it was released, or anything. And I didn't have it on constant rotation for about a year. It just needs more time than 8 years, right? :)

It's not that I don't like Binaural. I just enjoy ITW more.

In fact, my favorite song on Binaural is Soon Forget, which would fit quite nicely into an EV solo setlist with the ITW songs. As would Of The Girl.

I agree. I don't know how any Pearl Jam album is "better" than another. It's all personal preference. There's no fact involved in rating music.

Certainly this is true. But, that doesn't mean it's not fun to debate the merits of the albums.

I agree. "Into The Wild" exceeded my expectations.

    eh...

i bought No Code 2 yrs later...

took me about that long to appreciate No Code, maybe even longer...and probably a few years to where Binaural eventually became my favorite album.

Id rather listen to a short album of great music than a long album with some filler and songs I dont like.

If you could spell Binaural correctly, I might take you more seriously.

And then I would disagree with you. :p

apples and oranges. eddie really knows how to capture a feeling. the very underrated man of the hour single was perfect for the movie Big Fish and Into the Wild perfectly caught the tone of the movie as well. He has done stellar work on both. But you really cant compare his solo work with the PJ work. Come on now.
