while i strongly disagree, i still feel that's an argument worth making.......its not asinine to think the way you do. into the wild is a really really good record

ITW didn't impress me much. Half the songs last 1:30-2:00 which is fine for a movie, but I really hoped they would have some additional verses. Just as you get into them they stop. The quality is generally good but doesn't seem to get where the song should be going.

I first played the disk on my PC and actually thought I bumped fastforward or the disk skippped.....or something. I couldn't figure out why the tracks were so short.

  • ITW was a good Record. ITW was a phenomenal soundtrack. I saw the movie about 2 weeks ago, and some of the songs are haunting reminders of the movie...EV did a very very good job.

But the songs are just too short to compare to PJ albums. I personally enjoy Binaural & PJ, riot act too. Sure, they ain't the best PJ albums but they are good listens.

    NOT The Ghostbuster Soundtrack.
  • ITW can barely be called an album. its more like a EP of quick little experiments. Plus it has 2 covers.

Agreed; although it is beautiful and brilliant, it's not in the league of a PJ album.

If all of PJ's material sounded like ITW, this place would have about 30 members.

ITW is amazing. For such a short album there's such a variety of emotions. Just as good as any PJ album to me. It's really a refreshing album.

tho an AMAZING record, I have to disagree with Binaural, altho maybe i add Vitology to the list (yes flame away, thas just how i feel)
and here is some food for thought... is it just me, or does Into The Wild almost feel like a nice sequal to Yield?
    peace

riot act and avocado are also noooo doooubt better.

sorry man. love the itw soundtrack ... LOVE it ... but it does not compare to any of the full blown pj works of magic.

Do not taint the supremacy of Yield with comparisons to an album sorely lacking in electric guitars.

  • I agree that it is better than Riot Act and maybe on a bad day, Binaural. But Avocado? You must not have listened to that album because it straight up owns Into the Wild. To me, if you don't like the most recent Pearl Jam album, you really aren't a fan of this band.

ITW < anything Stone, Jeff, Mike or Matt have played on.

Not sure that it even approaches any rock album recorded in the last 40 years.

    IMO EV solo = crap

I like it more than about half of the PJ albums as well. I love each and every song on it and cannot get enough of it. I still listen to it almost every single day and I have had it since the day it came out.

Funny I had to force myself to listen all the way though it just once, praying there would be something good. My loss though, of time that is, now it's buried somewhere beneath the stack of discs I never listen too.

Your loss. Seems like alot of people dont like it because it doesnt rock enough. What did you expect? We all know its not Pearl Jam and that the songs were gonna be more folk like. Seeing the movie only made me appreciate the soundtrack more as well. One of my favorite soundtracks of all time.

I agree. They really can't be fairly compared. Its like trying to compare Three Fish to Pearl Jam. It just doesn't work.

But just for the sake of argument, I think you might be on crack. ITW is a good solid album, but I like Binaural, and especially "Avocado" far more. I don't get all the Binaural hate.
  • If Into the Wild was a full length album, it would most likely stand up with the best of PJ.

By your logic, Extreme's album Pornograffiti is better than Into The Wild. I'm not following. :)
