PLEASE SIGN - Petition to bring back poster presale for 2013

PJ-CubsPJ-Cubs Posts: 3,293
edited September 2013 in The Porch
I think the 10C should bring back the poster presales for the 2013 concerts. If I remember correctly, most people liked the presales when they did them a few years ago.

At lot of people are going to want to get a good spot in GA on the field at Wrigley. A poster presale would save them all a trip to the merch stand before the head to the field.

Bump if you agree.

2/18 update: I think there is enough support to change this thread to a petition. Please add your name to the list of supporters and I will send the list to the 10C. Let's make this happen!

3/24 update: We have built up a HUGE list of supporters. Please keep the signatures coming.

I could be wrong but I remember in a chat or something that the band itself put a stop to this - took away from the experience.

    SHOW COUNT: (149) 1990's=3, 2000's=53, 2010/20's=89, US=109, CAN=15, Europe=19 ,New Zealand=2, Australia=2
    Mexico=1, Colombia=1

Upcoming:  Sacramento, Vegas x2, Manchester, London, Chicago x2, NYC x2, Fenway x2, Aucklandx2, Gold Coast, Melbournex2

    Interesting...

I never knew that standing in line at the merch stand was part of the concert experience

Agree with this post so much. This was so nice for the United Center 2009 shows, staying at the pre-party longer and meeting/talking to many nice new fans instead of waiting in line at the merch stand forever and getting your poster all smashed up the rest of the night.
Obviously not a huge deal in the grand scheme of things but I remember thinking how nice it would be having that option at other shows, wish they would bring it back.
No time to be void or save up on life, you gotta spend it all.

    Yes please! :)

Also add, would it be possible to do something like Soundgarden has been doing lately. Random signed posters signed by the whole band. Yeah, that would be great!

I'm a fan of this idea.

Either that or producing a run of posters equal to the number of tickets sold, and limiting people to one poster each.
    "Where's KW?"
    "Let's check Idaho."

    Brilliant idea, not
    Only allows
For a peace of mind at the show, but would hopefully
Prevent some people from buying a ton of
Posters, knowing that members got theirs in advance.

Didn't the 10C do a poster presale for one of the 2012 Europe festival shows? It seems like it is still a possibility for this year.

If not the pre-sale, hopefully they'll bring back the UPS truck like the PJ20 shows where you could give it to them and they'll ship to your house at a later date.

Fine if they want to make it "part of the experience." But how about bringing back the wristbands so you could claim your poster after the show? They did that in 2006 or 2008, and it worked really well I thought.

My worst experience with posters were the gorge shows.

Gorge '05 bought a poster. It got squished by a rowdy fan (at least now they sell poster tubes instead of telling you to drop it at the gate)... there's some creases in it now, but at least I got it.

Gorge '06. It was soooo hot. the doors opened fairly early. We got there at doors... first booth sold out right away.. felt like an idiot running down the merch booth at the bottom of the hill. got a poster. Then because we got there so friggin early, and it was so hot, I was pretty burned out by the time the band hit the state. There is really no shade at the gorge.. it was brutal.

    Best Concert Poster Exerpiences:

    1) Missoula 98 - My first poster. They had an outdoor merch booth. Bought a post and a shirt, went back, tossed them in the trunk of the car, then went into the venue. Had GA tickets and did't have to carry anything around to me.

    2) Calgary '09 - Presale. Ordered via the internet. Poster showed up a few weeks afterward. The whole show was GA. Had it been holding onto a poster in that mess, it would of been crushed.

    3) Vancouver '11 - Outside Merch Booth. Butt ugly poster that I'll probably never frame, but I was able to get one and toss it in the car before entering the venue.

I guess my conclusion is if they don't want to do presales, then at least to more of the outdoor merch booths? I love those things.

I liked that idea back in '08. One poster per wrist band / fan. You couldn't purchase more then 2 though in Mansfield Night 2 I did remember seeing one dude carry 6 prints while I was waiting in line to get my one. Only thing that sucked was waiting after an intense show in a long busy line.

I agree. If they don't give you the chance to preorder it just have an outdoor booth where you can pick it up and toss it in the car. Then the rest of the day is nothing but enjoyment. :D

At the very least, I think they should offer it to you if you won the lottery for the tix. This way they can feel good about selling tickets to people that are going to the show and not someone who isn't even going to the event.

I'll be flying into Chicago and visiting the town and such. The last thing I want to do is carry around a poster. And if it rains? Uggggghhhhhhhh

Bump, if for no other reason than the band to sell more posters. There has to be a decent margin on those things. I really want to get show posters and tentatively plan on doing so, but given the choice between waiting in line or getting a better spot for the show, it's a no-brainer. If the posters then are not sold here in Goods or listed affordably elsewhere online, I'll just pass and keep my memories up here

Hate lugging it around, though after selling some posters, don't really care as much these days. But a Wrigley poster is probably going to be mean!

I am ALL for poster pre-sales. I love it
