I kind of gave up on this one... I didn't intend on it to be so negative....but thanks to everyone. I truly believe that having an opinion is important and thanks to everyone that has posted...0

What I love about Canada is my daughter can go to school without having to worry about getting shot in the face with a gun, any type, legal or illegal.
For clarity's sake I am not comparing Canada to the USA or any other country, I'm not bitching about gun laws. I'm just saying that we (my family) feels safe.0 -

I'm honest, that's why most people hate me, some people don't like to hear the truth. And that is in all walks of life, not just around here.0 -

Well I like you and your ideas!0 -
I'm American and there are alot of things I like about living here. I love that my state (KY) in particular is one of the most beautiful - hiking and camping here is always an amazing experience. I also enjoy the diversity of people that I see every day in my own community and how I get to eat a crazy variety of food that I would never have thought that I would like. I like Kentucky bourbon and drinking it at the Kentucky Derby
But most of all, I like that I can criticize my government and my fellow Americans all in the hope of making this country better every day.
Are we getting something out of this all-encompassing trip?
Seems my preconceptions are what should have been burned...

I like that my taxes fund Triple J so I never have to hear "...and now, the latest from Nickleback..." on the radio.
I like like Paul Dempsey too

Yes, indeed... when things are written down, it's easier to have something to fall back on.
That's my take on it0 -

id prefer to live in a country where rights were givens rather than enshrined. i know that maybe perhaps that may lead to issues later on... but i dont see them being issues any more than what you all would face having them 'written in stone.' what i see when something isnt written down is that we arent beholden to the past.hear my name

I see that perspective and then I see it, like you said, causing problems. Have it written in stone so that we know for sure these rights are guaranteed to any and all individuals in this country. If something needs to be adapted, we can amend what was written. We've done it 27 times0 -

oh i totally fucking know and understand that your country and mine were forged differenly and to be honest i am so very thankful for that despite the issues my people had to deal with in the formation of my country. .. but i would not trade places with you for all the tea in china.... as the saying goes... cause from where im sitting i see you all being castrated by some of those rights you all hold so dear.hear my name

And that's why some of us speak up when those rights are being violated. That's why some of us know when a police officer is overstepping his/her bounds. Some of us can tell our politicians are liars...
When you grow up in a place for 20 years, you kind of get attached to it. This is my country and it is my home... I'm not proud of a lot of the things we do, and I can understand the frustration with my country worldwide. I don't blame you for not wanting to trade with me.0 -
