We're all just human. where you are born has a lot of influence on your views, not just country, but state, province, city etc. The key is cutting through the propaganda bullshit. I am embarrassed by a lot of what the US does, but it also has a vast amount of great qualties, places etc.

Some people just wave their star spangled bullshit or Canada bullshit or insert coutnry here Bullshit and that is not productive at all.

It was great moving out of the US and doing some extensive traveling. Really helps to broaden your focus and not narrow it. I lived in the US for 30 years and don't have plans on returning, not because I hate it, there is just more I want to experience and do......

    I suppose I love that my country has a rich history, and has influenced many parts of the world. One of the things unique would be the national sport, i.e. hurling. I love that where you are from is something that you carry with you, in that;

Every year each county plays off against eachother in an All Ireland competition, which is an incredibly passionate experience. You're county winning is something that is cherished by many until their dying days, unless you're from Kilkenny (then you're just a straight out bastard)

There was a time when I was very much the flag waving, ra ra ra type of bullshit merchant, but thankfully I got to travel the world, which helped really focus some perspective.

All in all, this is my home, and has always felt as such, and as hard as times are, I believe it is up to people to better where they are. I do that by working my ass off, contributing, and helping get people back into the workforce.

Every nation has it's flaws, fuck knows Ireland does.

Wow, is this ever wrong in so, so, many ways.

The poison from the poison stream caught up to you ELEVEN years ago and you floated out of here. Sept. 14, 08

Oh fuck here we go again. Another thread ready for the fucking Americans views on guns and violence.
A place for Americans to plead their case for guns are for my Protection.

I tried a thread similar, asking a simple question like this but the Americans can't answer the simple question. They google shit and cut and paste their answers.

    Let the bullshit begin.........

    Starting now. Go fuckers
if you think what I believe is stupid, bizarre, ridiculous or outrageous.....it's ok, I think I had a brain tumor when I wrote that.

This sums it up nicely; no one is better or worse, per se, by virtue of where they were born. Your last sentence could apply to most anywhere - though I recognize opportunities aren't the same all over.

That said, I do love this land - being a first-generation American via a German father who emigrated here in his teens, became a US soldier and put his ass into some nasty WWII battles ... via a Persian mother who emigrated here with most of her family in the late 40s, with pretty much nothing of the life they lived in Iran. Started over, and succeeded. I'm proud of THEM.

I love the freedom to speak my mind, to be able to vehemently disagree with some, to be as charitable (or not) as I choose. To know that hard work can be fruitful. To be able to see the vilest of people and the most giving of people expose themselves in their own ways - I learn from both.

I wish the OP hadn't been edited. This could be (is?) a fruitful thread - no different than if someone had asked about what it's like being...Norwegian. Or what life in China is like for Smellyman and Byrnzie.

I wish that genuine questions and openness to other views wouldn't be so quickly stifled; it can be a refreshing exposure to the different and the unknown.

I like Canada better, when we have differences we have a fist fight and then to have a beer together.

I wish you lived near me and you and I could have a fist fight, then go drink real beer together.

Oh and why don't you want to live near me? Don't you like me?
