style that he's apparently using there costs like 95
dollars!!! Damn that man just had class all around!!

he has inspired me to do some of the same things with less fortunate kids at my school...of course, i have a limited budget so it is on a much smaller scale, but a ten dollar gift card to McDonald's can make a kid's day, or even month!

What a great example he is of being kind and so thoughtful. He didn't even know this guy yet he went out of his way to make somebody else's day. This is why I love Ed!

This is such an important point: it doesn't take being kindhearted AND rich to do amazing things for people in need. There are opportunities all the time for totally regular folks (even folks he hardly have anything) to do kind, thoughtful things for others. It just takes time and noticing/looking for opportunities to help.
I realize a guy trying to get a record contract - that's not really "a person in need", but doing kind things is awesome no matter what. But it makes me sad when people say they can't or don't help others (especially people truly in need) because "they don't have enough money" or they are too busy.
Opportunities to do kind things occur or can be created daily. Thanks for telling this nice story and Hopper, thanks for being inspired by stories like that to do what you can do!

A musician in NYC actually probably is truly a person in need! ... I think Ed just really understands that for young musicians trying to make careers of it can be stopped from doing so just because they can`t scape up the money for some basic but dire equipment. He knows that some potentially great musical careers (and therefore great music) have been lost just because people with real talent had to choose between paying rent or eating and having an 8-track recorder or a decent amp, which could possibly be the thing that makes the difference between a musical career and never getting that far. It`s nice to know that Ed`s not forgotten what it was like.
