    Never Let Me Go

    depressing as hell.
  • anyone seen Killing Them Softly? Ive wanted to see this since Cannes. I hope to though Its funny how people are already suggesting its a failure, and this is its opening week. Its gotten pretty good reviews, and I think people sort of dont get what Brad Pitt is about, that he isnt out there trying to be number 1 at the box office and be the big shot in hollywood. Its clear since Fight Club, he's tackled projects that are only of interest to him, and in that, of course, some films arent going to do as well commercially. Tree of Life, clearly wasnt made to be the biggest grossing film of all time. And neither is Killing them Softly. its a violent film about hitmen, and its a dark comedy. Usually those films arent 400 million dollar bohemoths at the box office.

Aside from Brad Pitt's performance I didn't care for it.

I was impressed by a lot of its elements but I wasn't wildly enthusiastic about it overall.

    Are you a Tarantino fan?
  • Inglorious Basterds. Thought it was OK.

Incredibly overrated film. Decent for sure but it didn't reach the heights so many people claimed it did.
  • i am a tarantino fan and found inglorious bastards pretty mediocre. the guy has such an insane list of movies he's directed and been a part of, I just found inglorious underwhelming. That said the opening scene with the floorboards and the nazi's I think is a textbook example of how to create tension and anxiety. Few films nowadays take the time to do something like that.

I think part of it was we expect tarantinos movies to be hip, new, tons of pop culture references. And this movie of course was set in the 40's, and about a subject thats important obviously, but its not exactly new or surprising. I just didnt find the writing or the film itself all that great.

But I guess thats the problem with being someone as well loved and acclaimed as tarantino, any new film will inevitably get sized up with Pulp, or Jackie Brown or Kill Bill

Yes, I'm a Tarantino fan. Still think this one was just OK.
