    The best book I read most recently was The Tiger: A True Story of Vengeance and Survival by John Vaillant. I want to own this book so I can re-read the passages describing interactions with tigers. Talk about reverence. Love this book.

    Also recently enjoyed The Poisoner's Handbook: Murder and the Birth of Forensic Medicine in Jazz Age New York by Deborah Blum. So yeah, Chuck Norris was NYCs first Chief Medical Examiner. 'Nuff said. :geek:

    Right now, I am slugging through LIttle Bee by Chris Cleave. At page 200+, I see this as some sort of pseudo-poignant piece about African refugees to be eaten up by the Oprah book club crowd. Thing is, I was handed this book by (what I assume was) a West African immigrant (hopeful?). He wrote his email address in the book and now I have this fucking reading assignment. I'm trying to be wooed, but serious fiction is just not my cup of tea. I can't take it seriously.

    Nick Hornby's "A Long Way Down"

    I love Hornby books. This one takes place during the holidays with suicide as a central theme, perfect.

    I've been meaning to read this one as well. I also have Oliver Sacks book Musicophilia. For now, I am reading this one though, along with the Walking Dead comics (currently on issue 72)

    Just finished the last of the ten book series "The Malazan Book of the Fallen."

    The series was awesome (although it took me about four months to read them all). Such a rich, dense world with a huge cast of characters. I highly recommend it if you enjoy high-fantasy :thumbup:

    In the past five days I have also finished re-reading Frederick Forsyth's "The Afghan" (again!) and started re-reading the Harry Potter series (again!). Currently on book three, "The Prisoner of Azkaban."

    Okay, it has been a while but I am guessing this one will be up next (see for a description courtesy of Amazon below; still, this book not only features an account of the Dubrovka siege but provides background information regarding the most notorious rebel leaders - not only of Chechen origin - in the region, most if not all of which are currently dead). I have no doubt that this work will be biased to a notable extent given the ties of the author with Mother Russia, but having a very strong interest in the region I will read it anyway.

    At a little past 10:00 p.m., on October 23, 2002, nineteen young women and twenty-two men bounded from minivans and sprinted through the front doors of the sprawling Dubrovka Theater Center located just blocks from the Kremlin in the heart of Moscow.     Yep, that's the second one and pretty sad. I'm really struggling to finish it up.

    I read Sacks' Musicolphilia...a little too scientific for me, but interesting nonetheless.
    I started reading it awhile back and put it down due to that same reason. But I plan on going to school to be a music therapist when I get out of the Army.

    A buddy (who's also a big King fan) loved the Talisman but didn't think Black House was as good. That made me a bit nervous going into BH because I had issues with Talisman (though I still enjoyed it) and the second-person narration threw me at first. Thankfully, BH has turned into one of those books I can't put down!
