First book of the Guido Brunetti series by Donna Leon - Death at La Fenice
I finished the second volume in the series. Pretty intense at the end. I don't have #3, but I started #4.

I just finished reading Kim Gordon's Girl In a Band and Danny Goldberg's Serving the Servant. Both great reads.
Has anyone read any Philip K. Dick or Nietzsche? I am interested in giving books by these authors a go. I found a copy of The Antichrist by Nietzsche on a university website and will give that a go. I read the wikipedia page about it and it interests me. I've been listening to Sister by Sonic Youth and read that the album was based loosely on the works of Philip K. Dick. He has so many titles I don't know what I'd like. Counter-clock world seems interesting. Any recommendations?

Hands down funniest book. Sean Condon use to write books and he's such a smart ass and has a very good sense of humor. Hes Australian but lives in Amsterdam now with his wife and daughter. I would say a mix between Larry David and Anthony bourdain sense of humor.
I rarely re-read books ("so many books, so little time"), but this one is proving to be WELL worth the second go-around! One of my favorites from Henry:
“The fear of death follows from the fear of life. A man [or woman] who lives fully is prepared to die at any time.”
I saw a pop up book store today selling all books for $5. I bought these four titles, not sure I will even have time to read one seeing I am back to studying next week. Has anyone read any of these? I am glad I found a Philip K. Dick and a Nietzsche book. These are the only books of theirs on shelf.

Ha! I'm always re-reading books!
Presently, I'm re-reading a new-to-me translation of this one.
Great translation so far. I must check out some of their other Dostoevsky translations.
Probably the most important book I've read in a long while. Great look at how baked into our society racism really is and how it's not just the banks and realtors that denied people of color opportunities but the US government's role as well. He also discusses how current segregation patterns are linked to these original abuses and the role of the 2008 housing crisis in the lives of people of color. Very eye-opening, and in today's climate, a very necessary look at systemic racism.
Are we getting something out of this all-encompassing trip?
Seems my preconceptions are what should have been burned...
Recently been slamming through Winston Graham's Poldark novels. Love the PBS series, now reading the books, I can't get enough. Going to miss the series when it's over this year.
