POWDERFINGER ANNOUNCE JUNE UPSTAIRS AT THE DOWNSTAIRS TOUR!
Yes people, the rock gods are smiling upon you today! Powderfinger are very excited to announce that they are heading back on a jaunt around the nation with the ‘Upstairs at the Downstairs’ tour! If this isn’t exciting enough, then how’s this – the band are asking you to vote for the set list!
Each show will be split into two hit-filled sets – one acoustic followed by a second rock set with an intermission in between. And the band are asking you to vote online for both set lists! This means that potentially every city could have a completely different fan-voted show! If this doesn’t make the tour special enough, consider this – the intimate venues will be the band’s first return to theatres in Australia in 8 years.
The band are excited to hand the power over to their loyal fan base. “We’re trying a concept we’ve never done before on a tour. One of our main focuses for this tour is to make it a little more personal and have more interaction with our fans and what they would like to hear us play. Hence, they’re choosing our set list ... we will be at their mercy!” said Darren.
Tickets will go on sale on Friday 11 April. However, as usual, the band are giving Fanclub members the opportunity to purchase a limited amount of early-bird tickets on Thursday 10 April at 9am. Make sure you subscribe to the newsletter at http://www.powderfinger.com prior to April 10th to ensure you receive early-bird information.

Sheesh....we've had no power for the last hour n 1/2 :(
What a day! The weekend was stinkin hot, day AND night. Today it's p-ing down with rain, dark and the temp is still only 13 degree's  I'm freezing!
Townsville's sounding better by the minute, today!
Nah we only had it for 80% so got 3 fiddy each. I might put it all on manly to lose tonight - useless pricks
LOL! 350's still ok, I guess
Just rang UPS AGAIN, cuz they didn't ring me as promised AGAIN!!!
Apparently they are now waiting for me to pay duties :( Were they gonna phone me and let me know or just keep me waiting still?!
So, now they've promised to get someone to phone me tomorrow, cuz whoever I need to speak to has gone home.
FUCK I'M SO PISSED OFF ATM!!!!!!! BUNCH OF USELESS FU**EN C**TS!!!!!!!!
Sorry really needed to do that....can't say it out loud atm....kids are close by.........

Sounds like the ATO. If you guys ahd any idea about the intellect of some of the employees of the firm that controls tax you would be terribly concerned.
Has anyone read the thread about the Avo album and its success - a very good read indeed

You can't really blame UPS, they did their part of the job by delivering it to Australia. They're having to deal with Customs/Australia Post now, so information wise, they're in the same position as you.
Whole thing could've been averted if the person you bought the surfboard off didn't do what I'm guessing they did, and wrote down the actual price of what you paid on the customs form because you have to pay duty on thngs costing more than $1000

Yes I can blame UPS ! -it's still in their hands and it's still them I have to deal with. My board has been in Sydney since before Easter and every time they something occurs, delaying the delivery....do they call me and get whatever info they need to proceed?? NO! Things only seem to get sorted, when I call THEM to find out why there's still a hold up.....If I didn't call them at all.....would they have ever rang me??
I understand things happen, causing delay.....that is not my problem.....I just think it would be better business practice if they called me and kept things moving - I've lost count how many times they've promised to to get someone to call me.....and still I haven't had a single phonecall.
And yeah....I realize that I have to pay duty (as much as it sux) because it cost me over $1000.
Yes....I gathered I'd have to pay duty....I cop it alot when importing stock :(
That is NOT my problem.....that's only come up today.
It's been all of the other delays and things they've needed......like the senders name and address (WTF didn't they already have that?) and copies of eBay invoices etc etc etc......
I wouldn't care if they needed something, they rang me - it gets sorted. But they haven't. It's always been me waiting a few days, then calling and asking what's going on and I get the response - " Oh we're waiting for you to blah blah" to which I'd respond - "How was I s'posed to know you're waiting for that?" to which they'd reply...."Oh? Someone from X department should have phoned you, but looking here, they didn't. Leave your number and I'll get them to call you" YEAH FUCKEN RIGHT!!
oh and she sent it registered so it's insured and stuff, but i guess that means you gotta be there to sign for it or pick it up from the post office.
is there even a post office in Dwelly? or does the mail just get dropped out of a plane onto the field and who ever gets it first acts as the mail man for the day?

Cool...I didn't even think about Insuring Thanx. Don't know whay I didn't - I usually do....get's here a bit quicker as well
No way have I given you enough!!! Let me know what the P&P was and I'll fix it up!
We've just had an upgrade here and mail comes via horse n cart
Nah.....we don't have letter boxes or posties.....but we do have a Post Office and that's where we pick up all our mail, so I would've had to go there anyway

you gave me enough to cover it. gees, stop worrying.
it was like $13, i think i can live without $3. or you can just buy me a beer when we finally meet.

I still reckon the delay is completely about the duty. There's no way at all that customs clearance should've stated the amount you paid for it. Don't take this the wrong way but that board should not be stated as worth $1500. What's written on the customs form should be the cost of board brand new (without autographs) and probably with depreciation taken into account seeing as it's 2nd hand. Next time you order something from Ten Club take a look at the customs sticker and you'll notice that the price they put on the sticker is about half the cost of what you've paid.
You say that paying duty isn't your problem, and that being stuffed around is the problem, but ultimately the calculation of duty is the most probable cause of delay and that has got absolutely nothing to do with UPS. It's completely the problem of Australian Customs. UPS are probably being quizzed by customs at why a US$1500 surfboard is being sent from Hawaii to WA, so now UPS are most probably trying to get their facts right for the Customs officials.
You're just a victim of the 2nd worst postal service in the world trying to deal with the most frivolent customs department in the world

Yeah......I get all that I import stock from all over the world all the time.....
I wouldn't be annoyed about the delay, if it were necessary - these things happen and it's not like I need the board in a hurry.....
BUT.....my gripe is the fact that whenever I've rung them (UPS), they've always known for days what info they need to get, but haven't called me (as they've told me they were supposed to) to get the info. It's taken a phone call from me to remind them that they've been needing certain info for days. They've admitted to me everytime, that they are at fault and that I should have received a call days before I've ended up calling them.
The delay needn't have happened if they'd called me when info etc was needed.
As far as the duty is concerned....I have no idea what amount Katye put on the invoice, but it made no difference, because I was asked to send a copy of the eBay invoice to UPS last week anyway.
Why do u have to pay tax on goods coming into the country over 1,000$??
Fecked if I know, Suz....it shits me
I get stung with my stock every now and then. I try to order it in a few seperate orders to make the amount less than $1000 so I miss the duties.....but I have some suppliers that will only take minimum US$1000 orders.....so I get stung - huge shipping AND duties.
I quite often put a lesser amount when sending orders over seas.....or tick the 'sample' box so my customers don't get stung
.......but for some reason I had to send a copy of the eBay invoice.....so they obviously wanted it to check how much I'd paid :( there was no way of getting out of that ......which I didn't expect to.
