Probably- in theory- although I don't know- if I were black and came from a background of hundreds of years of repression in this country I might vote for a black guy just because it would represent a major change in viewpoint. Fifty years ago, a black guy would never have stood a chance of becoming president no matter how qualified he or she might have been.
If an American Indian ran for president, as long as their views weren't too radically different than might and they had a chance off winning I might vote for him or her based solely on the fact that this country was founded by First Nations people.
If a member of my favorite band ran for president, that might even sway my vote. I don't think it's necessarily inappropriate for personal preference like these to affect an individual's vote. All that said, I still don't think that is what this guys t-shirt is about. To me it's obvious that this is more about wanting to get the black out of the White House than it is about getting the white back in. It would be interesting to have him interviewed and find out first hand but I don't think there would be any surprising revelations in such an interview."It's a sad and beautiful world"-Roberto Benigni0 -

given the fact that the state generally charges a fee to get said ID , these laws in effect become poll taxes , which were outlawed long ago.comebackgirl wrote:

If we truly believe our hard work, etc is the variable that will get us where we want to be, we don't have to be afraid of giving other people access to the same opportunities.
Was voter ID's thrown out because of social class? I heard it was because it was racist.
Out of all that stuff regarding voter fraud, point me to the actual prosecutions of it, show me why its needed in the real world. then I may get behind it. Otherwise do this shit in a time and manner that doesnt come so close to any election period. Like begin the process right after an election cycle so there isnt such a rush and push for legal action. Lawsuit related to voter rolls in ohio about having dead people removed. WTF. brought by an out of state organization.
another suit involving early voting in the weekend prior to election day. Kinda pissed about our Sec of State pushing this shit to the SCOTUS. Who's paying for that? Me , thats who._____________________________________SIGNATURE________________________________________________

Yep...repealed by the 24th amendment, thereby recognizing it served as a barrier to some segments of the population being able to have a political voice by voting...just as an important amendment as the 1st or 2nd imomickeyrat wrote:

I agree it should not be done so close to an election. It looks bad and can be taken as holding people back. Here in Florida it's the law to have ID on your person. My friend was accused of drinking on the beach but they could not prove it. So they arrested him for not having an ID on him.
So I don't see how it could be a big deal here.“We the people are the rightful masters of both Congress and the courts, not to overthrow the Constitution but to overthrow the men who pervert the Constitution.” Abraham Lincoln0 -

further to the point about the fee associated with getting an ID, I see S Carolina is now offering them free to those that dont have them. Thereby getting around the poll tax arguement. If that kind of thing is done here, then I want a refund for mine.aerial wrote:I agree it should not be done so close to an election. It looks bad and can be taken as holding people back. He was a perennial candidate in the 80s. No he wasn't on the ticket, my point being that if that were the only reason for voting for a black candidate, he'd have been elected president, or at the least wouldn't have flamed out in the primaries.Dirtie_Frank wrote:Who Princess wrote:

That's not a "white pride" T-shirt. That's a racist, White-Power, anti-black T-shirt.
There is quite a difference.
If you can't see the difference between pride in your own culture and hating another... there is little hope for you. I hope you DO understand that when we have GLBT Pride day.. that's not us saying that we hate straight people.0 -

exactly...It's wonderful to take pride in your own culture/ethnic background/gender identity/sexual orientation/etc...I certainly do....and doing so does not equate to hating any other culture (etc), thinking your culture (etc) is better or wanting to diminish, devalue, hate or discriminate against another. I'd even argue that hating another's culture (etc) shows little pride in your own and does much more to devalue it.Prince Of Dorkness wrote:Godfather. wrote:I see brown pride t-shirts black pride t shirts asian and island pride t shirts and when a white guy wears a white pride t shirt it's offensive,
