I've said it before: It's 2012 and racism still runs rampant in this country (and like Dimi says, other countries too). We have made progress away from racism- of that I'm sure- but it's still a big problem and that, I find, is very depressing.

It's really sad Dimi. Some people feel so small and are so frightened that they need to focus their hate on groups of people for no other reason than to puff themselves up and make themselves feel bigger. It doesn't work...carrying that kind of hatred is toxic for them as well as for the people they focus it on. These kinds of attitudes and behaviors says so much more about the person espousing them than the people they are trying to intimidate. The t-shirt might as well say "I'm scared and small but I'm trying to cover those feeling up by projecting them onto other people."

The only mouths the N word flows freely from are the rappers and blacks themselves. This President and the dems. have brought out the racism in the country. They think Blacks are not efficient enough to get to the polls by themselves. They also think Blacks and Hispanic are incapable of acquiring an ID. They think only whites can do these things. You need to do some research before you make comments like those. You are also wrong about the Tea Party they are the only group that Does NOT care about skin color.

Recognizing that people have different access to resources doesn't mean you think they're incapable of anything...it means you recognize they have different access to resources, largely due to social class, not race. However race does correlate to social class because of the historical limitations certain groups have had to those resources, the manner in which they were brought to the country, the role they were allowed to have in government, etc. It shouldn't be about creating dependency, it should be about removing barriers. If we truly believe our hard work, etc is the variable that will get us where we want to be, we don't have to be afraid of giving other people access to the same opportunities.

Well said, combackgirl. I don't see the shirt being about pride at all (sorry, Godfather but I really can't imagine that's what the guy had in mind) but, as you say, about fear and hatred and is indeed toxic. That much fear and hate in some people is, in the long run, mostly harmful to the hateful and biased. These people would chose a confined world huddled in small thinking and fear and are missing out on a world rich and full of diversity.

I've asked this before, isn't just as much racist if you are black to vote for Obama because he is black? Or in other words I am voting for Obama because Romney is white. I would agree that it is just as idiotic to vote for someone simply because they share the same skin color as you. Just because you share the same skin color, gender identity, ethnic background, sexual orientation, etc. as a politician does not mean they are going to share your views or support the policies that you believe in or that will most impact you. I think the motivations might be different in a lot of cases though. The guy in the photo would likely be voting to limit others' place in society and access to resources. , etc. (racism), while those who are members of minority groups might be voting less to limit others and more in the hopes of improving their own access and place in society.

i agree with you..even im not so familiar with usa politics-tea party or even politics in general i have to say that
racism is something that grow up more than falls down....
for one thing im sure..the political game is going to happen,no matter what color the president has,the president will play his game and do what he has to do no matter if its Asian...
and as Godfather said,the racism is from all parties..not only from white to black people..
