I don't want Israel or any heavily influenced religious state to have nuclear weapons. Pandora's box has already let eight flying monkeys out. Let's keep that number set in place.
What is it to me??? If a shit storm is set off because of this, then the burden affects us all. Friend and family in the service are pulled into another war. Energy prices will spiral out of control causing suffering throughout the world. Lots of people die.
The UN and the EU hold the cards. Fairness is a moot point.

Since when has the US done anything by UN decree?….Your own intelligence agencies, and the somewhat West-complicit IAEA say Iran has no nuclear weapons program. There is plenty of proof of Israel’s nuclear arsenal. Their former PM has admitted to it unofficially…they don’t even officially deny having them. Are you actually worried about Iran nuking the US? They have no long-range delivery system. The nuclear threat is not to the US, it's to Israel. Even if there IS a threat, it's totally overblown. M.A.D. does not just apply to the USA and USSR....IF Iran obtains a nuke one day, it would be used to balance the scales of power and prevent further US/Israeli bullying or invasions. I don't quite agree that the country will be flooded with returning vets looking for jobs. And there ARE jobs but it is necessary for a mindset change in this country. Our children will have more than one career and will have to consistently get new training to remain relevant in the job market otherwise they will be unemployed or most likely underemployed. I think the days of career military jobs are going to be few and far between. It is not feasible to think the US can continue to police the rest of the world. We simply cannot support the military industrial complex anymore nor should we want to support it. It is time for us to move forward. I listened to a good episode on NPR today about cutting spending and David Wessel made a good point about mindless spending cuts. They just can't happen. We have to set priorities and cut everywhere and that includes the military in order for the US to get it's financial house in order.

There are a lot of military people trained to build infrastructure, to help provide clean water and shelter and medical aid and all the other necessities of life. And they're using that training, and money, in other countries. You don't think American infrastructure could use a little facelift? You think your country is better off building hospitals and housing in other countries than your own?
