2. "I will not reduce the taxes paid by high-income Americans."

3. "We've got 23 million people out of work or [who have] stopped looking for work in this country."
Romney is lying.
The official figure is 12.5 million unemployed. An additional 2.6 million have stopped looking for jobs. To get to the "23 Million," he includes more than 8 million people who work part-time jobs as also being "out of work."
Technically that would also be me. I am only officially a 2/3 employee for the studio I work for because the remaining time I spend doing independent promotions for them which accounts for about 75% of my income. Go figure.
(which by the way is also almost 80% of Walmart's workforce :fp: )
4. Obamacare "puts in place an unelected board that's going to tell people ultimately what kind of treatments they can have."

Another complete lie. And Romeny's own advisor admitted that after the debate.

it is a shame that we have to take people to task on here when obama should have headed this shit off at the pass last night and called romney on some of this stuff.

he let romney lie and lie and it was unchecked.
obama failed progressives everywhere last night.

Because now... we have VERY documented proof that Romney has no trouble lying if it suits his purpose and he does it with the same tone that mortgage broker used on you in 2006 to sell you that house he knew you couldn't afford.
We have 90 minutes of him intentionally distorting his policies, lying about what he thinks, changing his positions on a dime and the whole country is talking about how he "won" a debate without actually telling the truth about anything.
And not a single Republican is willing to address that.
So far all I've had in this thread is "so says Rolling Stone" without any suggestion that everyone else isn't saying the same thing (they are) and telling me that I didn't watch the debate (I did).
Kinda like how Paul Ryan's speech at the RNC was just 30 minutes of him lying and when it hit the news... that's all anyone was talking about.
And funny how donations to the president skyrocketed last night and a few complacent democrats realized that Romney can still win this by making things up... and they're now engaged.
Pretty brilliant if you ask me.

Despite the fact that fact checkers--you know, those in charge of the truth (what is that, Romney asks?)--are having a field day this morning, and despite the fact that I am voting for Obama, again, I agree with Gimmiesometruth27. This was a very poor showing by Obama. He was handed blatant lie after blatant lie on a silver platter......I hope there is some strategy to this; if not, Romney's debate victory can easily turn into an election victory..............0 -

uh... no. John McCain beat out a lot of GOP favorites including Mitt Romney. For a lot of reasons. Even Democrats liked John McCain.
And Hillary Clinton is hugely popular, no matter what the far right will tell you.0 -

The GOP nominated McCain because they knew another true fiscal conservative wouldn't have a chance to win (not that they really thought McCain had a chance - thus, like Dole - sacrificial lamb - I mean really? You think they allowed him to name Palin as his VP candidate b/c they thought he had a chance?).
And Hillary had no chance at winning either b/c despite Obama using Billy boy now - Clinton was also not so popular 4 years ago, as evidenced by the fact that Obama did everything possible to distance himself.
So, yes. They are both LIKED. But, if you think those were monumental victories on Obama's part, you're kidding yourself. He was literally annointed at the 2004 DNC as the next Dem Pres nominee. if obama was annointed in 2004 why did he struggle so much in the 2008 campaign? why did his poll numbers drop after the debates at times? he trailed clinton for a long time. he even trailed biden at one point in the polls. i don't care who you are, beating hillary clinton is no easy task. she would still be in the senate and she would win re-election if she were up again.
if he were annointed there would have been 2 or 3 dems running against him and he would have trounced them. it took time for obama to even get going in the primary campaign.
