Great job by Orr to get on and give Jimmy a chance.

    yeah, sure was.

  • I like Papelbon. I don't care what you guys say. If Ruben Amaro (or anybody) offered you a gazillion dollars, you'd take it too.

not being a dick here...why do you like him?

my disdain for him has little to do with money. I hated him before he got here. He's such a tool. I feel like he tries to be macho and he comes off as a hand job.

I really want to like the guy, but I have found it to be impossible.

crazy how this season is unfolding. wish they had a first baseman to help with the push

See I don't watch enough of other teams to even know anything about him other than he had a strike-out to end the 2007 World Series. I dunno, when that fastball's working, it's working. Plus I find it impossible to have true disdain for someone I've never even met....except Flo from Progressive. Hate that bitch.

at this time I would like to publicly apologize to the Philadelphia phillies for doubting you guys back a few months ago. I'm sorry!

Way to go, 7 in a row!

I went to today's game. Really enjoyable. First six innings were kinda rough to watch with the Phills not being able to get a hit though. But they found a way to keep get 'er done.

    Shits getting serious huh?

Last night reminded me of 2007 actually. Even down to having a douche as the closer. (remember Brett Myers?)

aaaand suddenly i'm not having to defend myself to people for still rooting hard for the phils this year. eeeeverybody's back on board. what a strange season.

i actually had a heated argument with my family a couple weeks ago down the shore because i wanted to watch the phils and they wanted to watch the rnc. this never would have happened in previous years. it ended with me calling them a bunch of frauds and storming out to the ocean drive's outside bar to watch the game (not a bad mid week spot to catch a game in sea isle--its chill, unlike the nonsense that is inside/late night..plenty of tv's).

hypothetical question: which season would you remember more fondly?

last year--best reg season in franchise history... only to piss it away to eventual champs in the divisional round.

    or

this year--left for dead in july only to prove everyone wrong by storming into october...but then losing in the one game wild card round?

i'd take this year. been real fun watching this team rise from the ashes over the last month or so when most people didn't expect it...

I hope they end up with a winning record, because their streak of losing records is sad and pathetic (and they long since broke the Phillies' record). But otherwise I couldn't give two shits. Maybe referees can give their city another Super Bowl win.

I know what you're saying, but he is a winner. love him or hate him, they guy usually comes up big when it matters. I think he deserves some slack for what he's accomplished during his time here. I thought the shit he dealt with after the pop up to the pitcher was ridiculous

    Marlins gave up, huh?

Read that they barely brought anyone up when rosters expanded and then they didn't bother pinch hitting once in the series.

Well I think the guys out there played hard. Game on Tuesday was a slugfest battle. Not to say that the franchise itself hasn't given up. They are just pathetic this year, kind of like us until a couple weeks ago.

Still only 5.5% chance of making playoffs according to espn, not that I have much faith in their projections.

It helps when Cliff Lee has a 0.33 ERA in his last four starts.

It's weird, I haven't watched a second of a phillies game in months until I caught the end of yesterdays when I got home. Just read that after and was surprised. Not one pinch hitter in the series was pretty surprising. That entire franchise does blow. I thought they were going to be good this year.

Just looked at all the box scores and they used at least one PH in each game, batting for pitchers. They didn't bat for anyone except for pitchers, but they did use pinch hitters.

I think the AL is on to something. Maybe they can try a lineup of DH's 1-9 and just have 9 other guys to play the field. We wouldn't want any position players hurting themselves running the bases,:lol::lol:

been a liability since the 09 nlcs. he's especially frustrating when the games become important.

saw that including tonight, they will only need to use cloyd three more times this season. good stuff
