Someone had to win it. Who cares if it was someone from Montana? Plus, you have no idea how many Montanans entered for the draw. The numbers very well could have been 4 to 1 or something. We don't know. But either way, I'm happy for the guy who won it - I don't care where he's from. If it wasn't him it would have been someone else. I don't even care if it was fixed... someone who entered won it, just like if it wasn't fixed for someone from Montana to win it. But I doubt it was fixed. I'm sure plenty of people from MT entered. It was probably advertised there more heavily.

Good God, people never run out of things to be pissed off about around here do they.

I'm happy I can go home tonight and sleep in my own bed tonight ... and I remember 9/11 like it was last week ... but it doesn't stop me from caring about other shit at the same time or being glad that some lucky fan gets to sit on stage in MT. I don't believe that's what 9/11 is supposed to be about...

Wow, the winner of the Best Seats in the World contest for PJ's Missoula show to raise money for Jon Tester just happens to be from MONTANA... close enough for a convenient PHOTO OP with Tester himself. I had to personally e-mail Tester's Web site to get the information about the winner because neither Jon Tester OR Pearl Jam posted the winner's information when or where the contest rules said they would. What are the ODDS, out of all of the entries among PJ's fans around the world, that the winner would be from Tester's own state of Montana. How fortunate for Tester because it gave him a great photo op on FACEBOOK, in case you are wondering where they tucked away this information. I'm a Pearl Jam fan, but I'm not an idiot. And THIS is politics. If what I believe happened really happened, which is the equivalent to finding a needle in a haystack, then Pearl Jam and Jon Tester are no different than the corporations that they pretend to be fighting against. I pray that they did find the needle in the haystack and, to every PJ fan, I ask you to not look at this with emotion, but with pure simple logic. Do the math. JUST DO THE MATH.

The math dictates that only a small amount of entries came from people on these message boards.....since it was free to enter, even those who aren't PJ fans would be inclined to enter. The message board wasn't the only place to advertise the contest.

Of course its politics...the show is a fundraiser for a politician, right?

    Are you pissed because:

    (1) the winner is from MT (and you're really believed that the promotion had nothing to do with politics and everything to do with Jon Tester just being a big fucking PJ fan :lol::lol: ),

    OR

    (2) you naively thought that you, who are admittedly one of probably thousands of entries from around the world, would be the lucky one to win?

Come on man, admit it: you're not pissed because "this is about politics" (which anyone who took a second to think about it could see plainly), you're selfishly pissed that you didn't win. Good grief...this board sometimes, I tell ya...

  • I never weigh in on this kind of stuff, but this accusation seems totally uncalled for. All these points have been made, but also bear repeating - we don't have any info on number of entries, we have no idea the ratio between Montana resident entries and non-Montana resident entries, and, most importantly, I think it's more than safe to assume the bulk of the entries came from Montana - it's a Montana campaign being run in Montana for the people of Montana.

Such a baseless accusation is disheartening. We should all say congrats to the winner, what an experience. I wish it were me, but it's not.

Also, "jumping the shark" isn't a euphemism.

A while back people were wild about the convention that PJ will be playing, and I said it there as I will here. If you feel so strongly as to want to give up PJ I will take any of your PJ items. Just send them on and move on.

Is this how people argue these days? No more beating the other guy up and being cool afterwards?

The phrase is an idiom. Like...It is as easy as shooting a fish in a barral. Or "jumping the shark"...I teach this objective every year.

Respect. We've all spouted off at one point or another. Enjoy 'em next time you see 'em!

Hey... I just came here because of the crazy I was dragged over a metal fence thread, but it reminded me: where in the fuck were the recliners on stage???? I forgot all about that, but I definitely did not see anyone on stage with the band!
