So, I've been chatting a bit with fellow jammers, and there's interest in meeting up for a Seattle BBQ to prepare for the Gorge show and the Canadian Tour!
The BBQ will be at Alki Beach in West Seattle, Wednesday evening, 8/31/2005, around 7:00PM. If you can, please bring some food or beverages with you- if you come empty handed, that's cool too.
Lots of PJ fans should be in the area for the Gorge and Vancouver shows- hope to see you guys there!
Oh, and thanks to jamainiac for the help organizing!
Driving Directions:
Meet up near the mini Statue of Liberty, which is on the grassy area west of the sandy beach.

From Seatac Airport :
Follow signs to I-5 North (they're easy to find)
Take exit 163 (West Seattle Bridge)
From Downtown Seattle:
Follow signs to I-5 South
Take exit 163 (West Seattle Bridge)
As you cross over the bridge, move to the right lanes
Take the "Harbor AVE" exit (NOT Harbor ISLAND!)
Take a right at the stoplight, and follow the park/waterline for about 4 miles.
When you pass the beach/volleyball courts, start looking for parking. The BBQ will be in the area near the Statue of Liberty, which is about 200 yards past the sandy beach area.
By Water Taxi from downtown:
Take the ferry from Pier 55 in downtown ($3). When you reach West Seattle, look for the free shuttle in the parking lot, and ask the driver to let you off when you reach the Statue of Liberty. (Shuttle drivers are very friendly)
Time tables and more info: http://transit.metrokc.gov/tops/oto/water_taxi.html
By Bus:
Board the 56 or 56 Express bus on the southbound direction of 1st Ave in downtown Seattle. Get off at the last stop (Starbucks) and head down to the water/statue. (Bus is $1.50, exact change)
Bus Schedule: http://transit.metrokc.gov/tops/bus/schedules/s056_0_.html

Where on Alki beach? Near the Statue of Liberty? If you keep yourself as the final arbiter you will be less susceptible to infection from cultural illusion.0 -

I wish I could make it up there on Wed 8/31....but i have to work a normal day....then come home and get ready for my 948 mile Pearl Jam/Tom Petty weekend.
Is anyone else planning on floating the Yakima River the day of the show? I am definetely doing that. I plan on getting to the river around noon that day. The float is about 2 1/2 hours or so.0 -
We were considering an excursion to the bars, but this definitely sounds intriguing. We may just see ya'll there.'Give me some music; music, moody food/ of us that trade in love'

You can also take the elliott bay water taxi from one of the piers downtown for $3 each way and then might have to take a shuttle or walk a ways down depending on which part of alki the party ends up on, don't know how late it runs either but it is a fun way to get over here.0

I'm sure some/all of us will want to hit the bars after the BBQ, so they're not mutually exclusive. Should be a great night!
Sucks I have to work the next day though : )rock musik rockar röv.0
