West Seattle is the closest part of Seattle to Seatac- it can be done in just over 15 minutes if you know the backroads. If you're on the interstate, probably 20-25 minutes or so...
Don't worry about direction, either- I'll post them in a bit (including from seatac). If you get lost, just call and we'll be sure you find your way. :-)
i havent got a clue whos playin or if that place is cool or not...but ive never been there and our hotel is nearby! a couple drinks....take in the scene....crash at a decent hour to prep for the next day! im excited!
Seems that needlessly it's getting harder
To find an approach and a way to live
Are we getting something out of this
all-encompassing trip?
Just spoke with Jams, and we figured out 3 options for the after-BBQ activities:
A) Head to a bar in the Downtown area? The Garage is cool- on Capitol Hill, walking distance to downtown Hit up one of the fine bars along Alki (Bamboo Bar and Grill or Celtic Swell)
C) Weather permitting, keep hanging on the beach- break out the guitars?
If you're late to the BBQ, then call my cell and we'll get on the same page. (206) 295 2403.
Cool I'll call you when we get in and we will all try to meet up. :-)
sounds like fun! We'll be there! (if that's ok..?). it's me and my travel buddy.. and probably the two other swedes we're gonna hook up with for the gorge concert..

Mt St Helens and Olympic NP are both trips that will take a full day. (They're both roughly a 3 hour drive out of Seattle, and then the same on the return trip). If you've got two days to explore, that's do-able, otherwise I'd trim down to one or the other. Mt Rainier is a lot closer to Seattle than St. Helens, so if you're short on time then I'd recommend going there instead.
Parking at Alki is decent- if it's a nice day, you might have to circle for a few minutes to find a spot, but driving is probably how most people get to the beach. If you have a rental car, I'd just recommend driving. If you get stuck in traffic, remember that it's the same traffic that Ed gets stuck in too :-)
From Seatac Airport :
Follow signs to I-5 North (they're easy to find)
Take exit 163 (West Seattle Bridge)
From Downtown Seattle:
Follow signs to I-5 South
Take exit 163 (West Seattle Bridge)
As you cross over the bridge, move to the right lanes
Take the "Harbor AVE" exit (NOT Harbor ISLAND!)
Take a right at the stoplight, and follow the park/waterline for about 4 miles.
When you pass the beach/volleyball courts, start looking for parking. The BBQ will be in the area near the Statue of Liberty, which is about 200 yards past the sandy beach area.
By Water Taxi from downtown:
Take the ferry from Pier 55 in downtown ($3). When you reach West Seattle, look for the free shuttle in the parking lot, and ask the driver to let you off when you reach the Statue of Liberty. (Shuttle drivers are very friendly)
By Bus:
Board the 56 or 56 Express bus on the southbound direction of 1st Ave in downtown Seattle. Get off at the last stop (Starbucks) and head down to the water/statue. (Bus is $1.50, exact change)

The Sound Garden is at Magnusson Park, btw. There's a cool 1992 poster of Eddie that was taken there during a free show!

Meet up near the mini Statue of Liberty, which is on the grassy area west of the sandy beach.

Sweet! Maybe the M's will actually win some games if there's fewer people watching the games- maybe they're getting stage freight or something : )
Do you think you guys will still be there?
