**Seattle Jammer Party & BBQ- 8/31**

So, I've been chatting a bit with fellow jammers, and there's interest in meeting up for a Seattle BBQ to prepare for the Gorge show and the Canadian Tour!
The BBQ will be at Alki Beach in West Seattle, Wednesday evening, 8/31/2005, around 7:00PM. If you can, please bring some food or beverages with you- if you come empty handed, that's cool too.
Lots of PJ fans should be in the area for the Gorge and Vancouver shows- hope to see you guys there!
Oh, and thanks to jamainiac for the help organizing!
Driving Directions:
Meet up near the mini Statue of Liberty, which is on the grassy area west of the sandy beach.

From Seatac Airport :
Follow signs to I-5 North (they're easy to find)
Take exit 163 (West Seattle Bridge)
From Downtown Seattle:
Follow signs to I-5 South
Take exit 163 (West Seattle Bridge)
As you cross over the bridge, move to the right lanes
Take the "Harbor AVE" exit (NOT Harbor ISLAND!)
Take a right at the stoplight, and follow the park/waterline for about 4 miles.
When you pass the beach/volleyball courts, start looking for parking. The BBQ will be in the area near the Statue of Liberty, which is about 200 yards past the sandy beach area.
By Water Taxi from downtown:
Take the ferry from Pier 55 in downtown ($3). When you reach West Seattle, look for the free shuttle in the parking lot, and ask the driver to let you off when you reach the Statue of Liberty. (Shuttle drivers are very friendly)
Time tables and more info: http://transit.metrokc.gov/tops/oto/water_taxi.html
By Bus:
Board the 56 or 56 Express bus on the southbound direction of 1st Ave in downtown Seattle. Get off at the last stop (Starbucks) and head down to the water/statue. (Bus is $1.50, exact change)

I'll make sure we do a toast for those of you who can't make it!
It will be a great kick off to a great trip!

I wish I could come, too- I've got another show to go to that night...
Bummer.. :(
I agree! Can't wait, either!
Jamainiac...

in the same sentence...

bob's your uncle
she lets go
As long as you figure out how to get here, I'm not worried! :P
Awesome! I'll send out more detailed directions and whatnot a bit closer to the date.
Let's just breathe...
I am myself like you somehow
can't wait to see you and all the other jammers there!
Where on Alki beach? Near the Statue of Liberty?
9/02/18 Boston, 9/04/18 Boston, 9/11/22 New York, 9/16/22 Nashville, 9/22/22 Denver, 8/31/23, St. Paul, 9/2/23 St. Paul, 9/18/23 Austin, 9/19/23 Austin
That's TBD, but yes, probably near the Statue.
UPDATE: Yep, we'll be near the Statue. :-)
It's about 10 minutes from Downtown- there's a bus (56) that goes directly from downtown to Alki for $1.50, or cab fare is about $15.
Is anyone else planning on floating the Yakima River the day of the show? I am definetely doing that. I plan on getting to the river around noon that day. The float is about 2 1/2 hours or so.

I'm sure some/all of us will want to hit the bars after the BBQ, so they're not mutually exclusive. Should be a great night!
Sucks I have to work the next day though : )

I wated to see at least some of the city before i'm back on th plane to Boston Friday morning
cool... I didn't realize there were water taxis! I'll have to check it out
Oh and Rockford ... I'm sure I'll find you
she lets go
How far would that be from the SeaTac airport area? I would LOVE to come, but I've never been to seattle before and won't know my way around at all.
Los aNiMaLs.....as i have said, wanting to do the trip on the Yakima. My crew of 3 total will be there just before noon. Just purchased a smoking hot raft on ebay for the occasion.....maybe I should get one for the beer too huh?

If anyone has any extra room; I am so game! Anyway...is there somewhere you can rent a raft or anything in the area? That sounds like a really great way to spend the pre-show day
Ah the memories

I am very jealous... have a blast!
Just spoke with Jams, and we figured out 3 options for the after-BBQ activities:
A) Head to a bar in the Downtown area? The Garage is cool- on Capitol Hill, walking distance to downtown
C) Weather permitting, keep hanging on the beach- break out the guitars?
If you're late to the BBQ, then call my cell and we'll get on the same page. (206) 295 2403.
West Seattle is the closest part of Seattle to Seatac- it can be done in just over 15 minutes if you know the backroads. If you're on the interstate, probably 20-25 minutes or so...
