i have most things framed that way too - although i did get a set for my pj ones on the 06 tour so theyd match

otherwise i just wait till frames go on sale - kids prints are a good one, the discount shops get heaps of framed prints of things like nemo and monsters inc, and when the fad is over they sell them off so cheap. you get a beautiful wooden frame, get some nice backing paper, and voila! theres all your family snaps framed up even matching your lounge colour

oh - ... now you boys are only talking about poster framing tho, i know

    :D

i'll have to throw a photo up of my pj walls - the best compliment i recieved was just the other nite when a friend was here who doesnt even like pearl jam - she came over and looked at the prints and just raved, 'oh how cool are they!'

I think thats the way to go, it looks great and saved heaps on professionally getting it done.

Once I get my act together and finish studying ill have time to devote to getting these things in order...

I bought some signed/framed posters from an auction of a dead tour manager a few years back and they are sitting in storage cos i havent been organised enough to hang them anywhere

Who were the signed posters of?
  • I still stand by what I said to all the yanks and europeans and whoever else when I said the Aussie Tour Posters from 06 were some of the best I think I have ever seen. Now one can say that I am bias... bein Aussie and having a massive tour I MISSED OUT ON but there isnt one I dont like. And i wasnt sold on the Crow until you guys just put up the framed pics of it.... Looks amazing in the frame and way better than the pics from ebay sellers. I cant wait till I get that spare bit of cash just to say "Fuck it im framing them all" :D:D

You will have to post some pics for us.....

I bought 2 frames for this shop called chickenfeed its like a discount shop anyway they cost $10 each and u could remove the back easily so that u could replace the prints. But it was really embarassing going thru the checkout cos the frames had pics of Harley Davidsons in them...
I felt like some kind of bogun chick that was purchasing some pics to hang up in her loungeroom....LOL...:)
Anyway I bought them to put Falls Festival posters that my daughter Phoebe got signed by Youth Group and Eskimo Joe.. They came out looking pretty cool they were nearly the right size and I just put black cardboard behind them..

My newcastle poster cost $149 to frame....hence the reason I 7 posters laying flat in my bedroom....

Lots of the hardcore collectors I think prefer the silk screen prints compared to the Lithos. I think the colours look awesome in the lithos.
I hope I get my ccfa one tomorrow..:)

There was a tour manager called Wayne 'Swampy' Jarvis. He dies about 4 years ago, but his tour manager days spanned 3 decades, from AC/DC, to Foo Fighters, Elton John and Pearl Jam. His auction had everything from the actual scholl uniform worn by Angus Young on the Razors Edge tour, to a signed (and personally played by) Eagles acoustic guitar. That sold for $8K!!

    Anyways

There were 4 Pearl Jam lots up for auction:

    1. Mint condition 1998 Adelaide poster (not framed but in that white board-like stuff, wrapped in celophane)
    2. South Pacific 1998 poster framed, signed by the band, personally addressed to Wayne Jarvis (now that I think of it, probably didnt have to buy that one)
    3. Framed tour shirt with backstage passes and tour manager programs PLUS a thick flannel tour jacket.
    4. South Pacific 1998 poster framed, signed by the band in a 3D frame, lined on the bottom with backstage passes and program (the pick of the bunch)

I told myself only to buy 1 of them...

Well I bought all, and still paying it off hehe

Yeah does seem a lot but I think thats pretty standard...went for the non glarey glass...u cant even see the glass...its like the poster is framed without glass....actually it may have been $139...

Yeah the Falls posters look cool...my daughter loves them..
Youth Groups poster looks cool its framed the same but It has a photo of Phoebe talking to the band while they are signing the poster.....

If u want a falls poster I can send u one...they arent signed tho..:)

I guess thats something with the aussie posters they are larger than the silk screened ones......bigger poster more framing to pay for...:)

    Jimbo..... Awesome!

How much ... spill it :D:D

All up, including fucken 12% buyers premium:

South Pacific signed to Wayne Jarvis: $600
    Adelaide 98: $700
    Tour shirt and jacket: $300
    South Pacific signed/backstage passes: $800

Those are approximates, cant remember exact amounts, all I remember is feeling really, really unwell after seeing the final invoice...

I could probably get it a bit cheaper off eBay, but this way I knew everything was authentic, and the poster is in the mintest of mint condition :D

Ive still got my 2003 silk screen one to frame. Apparently u have to be careful framing them because they can stick to the glass and if later u try to remove it the print is on the glass...:(

That guy in ebay is definitely selling lots of the aussie prints.. Hes been going for months...

It was such a buzz, specially when the PJ lot was coming up, heart started to race, got nervous hehe

Funny story though, I agreed to only buy one, and promised that to my gf (now fiance). So after I bought the first one, she thought it was all over.

Now picture this, we are sitting on the left side of the floor, and im on the left of my gf. We are both watching the auctioneer call up the next one, and I couldnt help myself. My gf couldnt see that i was bidding on the other ones, until she looked around to see who was bidding in our general direction...

No prizes for the look on her face when she realised it was me :D

She had that face that said 'you promised, and i cant yell at you because we are in public'

    Priceless
