I'm about halfway through George R.R. Martin's "A Storm of Swords" Read the previous one in a couple days and am now flying through this one. After I finish the whole series, I plan on reading "The First Confessor" by Terry Goodkind. Huge fan of the Sword of Truth series, so I'm really excited to read this book. Also got to throw in "My Cross to Bear" by Greg Allman.

Dance of Days. Two Decades of Punk in the Nation's Capital by Mark Andersen & Mark Jenkins

The nation's capital gave birth to the most influential punk underground of the '80s and '90s. Dance of Days recounts the rise of trailblazing artists such as Bad Brains, Henry Rollins, Minor Threat, Rites of Spring, Fugazi, and Bikini Kill.

I am jealous as well as I loved SoS so much.

    I'm reading Carey's Kushiel's Dart.
I gave it a shot because it has a lot of court intruige like the Song of Ice and fire series. So far its pretty good. I'm not used to reading a book with a female protagonist but so far its been interesting.

Canada’s legendary ambassador to the United States reveals his personal diaries from his time in Washington, from 1981 to 1989.

Allan Gotlieb was ambassador to the United States during a high point in U.S.-Canada relations, the Reagan and Mulroney eras. One of our country’s most effective diplomats, he was renowned for forging inside connections to the capital’s key decision-makers, and as he has said, “In Washington, gossip is not gossip — gossip is intelligence.”

Gotlieb kept a diary almost daily during his time in Washington, and its entries are filled with anecdotes about meetings and parties with the capital’s social, media, and political elite. Katharine Graham, Jesse Helms, and Sandra Day O’Connor are just a few who appear in its pages, as are such Canadian visitors as Jean Chrétien, Joe Clark, and even Wayne Gretzky.

With frankness and self-deprecating wit, Gotlieb recounts the absurdities and pretensions of life in Washington and his fight to make Canada’s voice heard. His diaries chronicle not only the major international issues of the time — such as the forging of the Free Trade Agreement — but also his own growth from Washington outsider to sophisticated power-broker.

Du Fu: A Life in Poetry

    Du-Fu-cover.jpg

Du Fu (712–770) is one of the undisputed geniuses of Chinese poetry—still universally admired and read thirteen centuries after his death. Now David Young, author of Black Lab, and well known as a translator of Chinese poets, gives us a sparkling new translation of Du Fu’s verse, arranged to give us a tour of the life, each “chapter” of poems preceded by an introductory paragraph that situates us in place, time, and circumstance. What emerges is a portrait of a modest yet great artist, an ordinary man moving and adjusting as he must in troubled times, while creating a startling, timeless body of work.

Just started 11/22/63, after finishing Under The Dome this weekend. About 200 pages in...and LOVE being back in Derry, seeing Richie and Bev again, and the references to Pennywise.

    Very good so far.

Finished Kushiels Dart which was pretty interesting and read Ayn Rand's Anthem over the weekend.

The Ayn Rand was okay. really not complex at all. Its like she had an idea and just wanted to make a statement not really tell a story. Still i'll have to listen to rush's 2112 again after reading it to see if i can catch the similarties.

I'm about to go full sci fi military space reading now :)
    first up is Starship Troopers

Probably going to read Old Man's War and Forever war after that and i might read Armor too. By then i should be done with my sci fi fix for a while

It is a bummer to finish ADWD and know that you have to wait again, huh?

I actually just picked up 11/22/63 after taking a few year King break. I really like it and it is like an old friend tapping me on the shoulder...

Have you read Ender's Game and the countless surrounding books?

    Troopers is pretty cool.

Have you read any other Rand? I loved Atlas Shrugged on my first reading (22 yrs old) and re-read it every few years. One of my favorite all time books.

Yes, you definitely may recommend :D Thanks for the suggestion. I haven't been making progress with my reading these last couple of weeks. And there is still another stack waiting to be read. But by all means, I value your suggestion, especially since I am mostly into hardcore or punk music ;)
