    Most countries do hand out money for medals. In Canada you get $20k for winning gold, and then down from there. China I think gives a really big amount and sets them up with a house! I'm sure the US does give $$ to medal winners as well.
    (Edit: yup, just checked and gold gets $25k in the US, plus a lot of the individual sports federations give bonuses on top of that too. :). )

    Murray wasn't playing for money as the British athletes don't get medal bonuses
    So are we strangers now? Like rock and roll and the radio?

    VERY hard! My mom put me into synchro lessons when I was a teenager, and I was a very strong swimmer (if I'd per sued it I probably would have been competitive). I spent 12 weeks mimicking a panicked drowning person! :lol:

    Just watching the finish of the marathon now (thank you heat wave, for making it too hot to do anything beside sit by a fan with an icepack and watch the Olympics! :D ). Great finish for the gold and silver!
    Surprised to see all the soldiers guarding the crowd though. I realize some contract issue made them pull in some soldiers for regular Olympic security, but it still looks a bit intimidating - not a common sight in London!
