This might be one of those times, the law doesnt apply. Watch the video in this CNN link, the town sheriff cant even keep straight when asked if the father should be charged.

    Unfortunelty you have to watch your children constantly. The man was defending his daughter. I would understand his rage completely.

    But now that I've thought about it, I'd rather beat the guy to a pulp...an absolute pulp, and let him live. But I cant imagine the fury and how difficult it would be to hold back while I was pummeling him.

    i can imagine that he didn't really mean to kill him
    but he was so angry and shocked that he just kept hitting him
    the amount of pure energy that must have instantaneously built inside him when he came across this must have been phenomenal

    good for the dad. I don't envy those making the decision here. If there is a stroke of luck in the situation, it happened in Texas. I highly doubt there will be charges.

    Anyone think he should be charged with manslaughter/murder?

    I've found that paternal instincts are very strong and instinctive, and one's strength must be vastly increased in this case. I don't think the guy could've helped himself.

    Anyways, he obviously should not be charged with anything. Maybe there should be some investigation to make sure the events really happened that way, but that's about it.

    This is horrible. The pain the family will feel for the rest of their lives...

    The molester only experienced pain for a short while before his death. He was let off easy.

    I agree with this. Investigate and make sure it is understood (as much as it can be) that nothing is fishy and this is what happened and then give the dad an award for father of the year and give his poor daughter some counseling for having this happen to her and then watching her father beat the guy to death.

    No way he is indicted. If he is, there better be a bigger outcry about than there was for Treyvon Martin.

    Any father would have done this. Hell I would have done it to save a complete strangers son or daughter. Not to mention the fact that by doing what he did he probably saved a life or two. INO I think all convicted pedophiles should get the death penalty. Bcos in almost every case they end up hurting or killing another kid. These people cannot be rehabilitated.

    LEGALLY SPEAKING...we live in a society of rules and laws, therefore I think the father should be charged with manslaughter or murder without premeditation, etc. ( I'm not a TX law expert), if it is applicable. I suspect his sentence will be something very minor, however, like 1 year probation or something.

    My take...
    Since I don't know all of the evidence and facts about the case, Let the legal justice system work it out. This is America and we believe in Justice for all.
    Finish up the investigation, turn it over to the District Attorney and let him/her to decide what is needed... charges filed in a court trial, Grand Jury... yes or no. There is no such thing as a court of public opinion.

    And just to let you know, justice has two sides. One on behalf of the victim and the other that falls down upon the guilty.

    I find it hard to applaud anyone beating anyone else to death even if it seems like a very good reason like this situation. My hope is that he won't be punished, though.

    i think they should put the report to the bottom of the pile, then somehow loose it in the next six weeks,

    i'm also not condoning murder, but in this sort of case....
