still haven't seen him live, though....i was close a couple of times, but life got in the way. almost saw him at ACL in 2009, but we didn't want to lose our spot for PJ. so we saw The Dead Weather instead & they kicked ass.

Took me a long time to catch him live. First was in 2009, and thankfully once per year since. He's a workhorse so I'm sure you will get another shot soon.

I've been lucky that I've gotten to see him a bunch of times and with multiple bands...when he tours, he usually visits D.C. so I always make sure I get tickets. He really mixes things up and I love that there's such a range in his music.

I hope you get to see him soon Matt! :D

wow, thanks everyone on this thread, I have just spent the last hour or so reading all the posts and clicking most of the links....such a cool time, am a huge fan of Ben Harper. One of those rare artists that just doesnt write a bad song (in my humble opinion)

I am not very computer literate so I dont know how to get those links sorry...and I sincerely apologise if this has been posted already and I missed it, but can someone please post a link to Ben and Eddie singing Indifference...I really love it

Probably a dumb question but do all you BH fans also get into John Butler Trio...they have a really similar vibe about them...live they are both just incredible...

    Hope the thread continues :corn:

This has been a long time in the making, and today my instrumental album "Winter Is For Lovers" is available on limited edition signed and numbered 180 gram vinyl.

The album is meant to be one composition, an A-side and B-side, comprised of 15 movements.

Formatting this album for digital was a unique challenge, and in doing so, I have named the individual pieces within the body of work after some of the places that have influenced the album, or where the pieces themselves were written.

To order go to the Ben Harper Shop. We expect to start shipping on or around September 10, 2020. Select USPS Media Mail for cheapest shipping! A standard vinyl and digital version will be available later this fall.

Sweet. I love Harp. Seen him in Detroit a few times, in Chicago at the riv, and Lollapalooza when Ed came out. Always liked his instrumentals, slide guitar, and I enjoyed the first single off this.

"Here is my next track, "London," off "Winter Is For Lovers," which will be out on October 23. This track is influenced by the great British guitar players, such as Richard Thompson, Nick Drake, John Martyn and Jimmy Page. It’s got that driving push and pulse, a jingling jangling rumble, and to me it felt like London specifically."

"White Lies For Dark Times" is full of Ben's wit and wisdom, such as:
    • Never underestimate how complicated a simple life can be...
    • Never pretend to be a gambler..
    • You can run away from home, but you can't run away from your pain...
    • Arms that hold you close are the arms that hold you back while your whole world is under attack...
    • You may be a cheap date, but my therapy's expensive as hell...
    • People they don't take advice they only give it, and the only way you ever gonna learn is to live it...
    • If you have to lie do it quickly, and as thoroughly as you can...
    • She wore high heels the ones that can pierce your heart...
    I love that album!
