Stone says new album in 2013

I'm a bit torn on this.
On one hand, I think the side projects are becoming a bit of a distraction (Ed solo tours and Ukelele album, Stone taking a year to make a Brad album and then a tour, Matt recording and touring with Soundgarden, Mike and Jeff in their side projects, etc.). I do think that spending time apart is healthy for any band, but I'd almost rather they put their focus and creative juices in one direction.
That said, I'm also glad they aren't putting out albums every year. The last thing I want from a PJ album is a generic ripoff of their previous release or something completely unoriginal *cough cough...Foo Fighters.
Oh well...I guess we'll just have to wait and see.0 -

people make too many excuses for this band.
"Give them a break" when they don't tour for PJ each one if touring with someone else. Why not concentrate on it and give the fans what they really want... a full scale tour. One of two legs.
2006 was the last big tour they did.
I agree...lots of individuals in other bands have kids, spouses, other things going on and they do proper tours. If Pearl Jam doesn't want to tour for whatever reason (family, other interests, tired, etc...) that's fine, but people act like no one has ever toured with families, Plus, these guys are still busy doing other stuff, they're just not into the PJ thing at the moment.2003: San Antonio, Houston, Dallas, Seattle; 2005: Monterrey; 2006: Chicago 1 & 2, Grand Rapids, Cleveland, Detroit; 2008: West Palm Beach, Tampa; 2009: Austin, LA 3 & 4, San Diego; 2010: Kansas City, St. Louis, Columbus, Indianapolis; 2011: PJ20 1 & 2; 2012: Missoula; 2013: Dallas, Oklahoma City, Seattle; 2014: Tulsa; 2016: Columbia, New York City 1 & 2; 2018: London, Seattle 1 & 2; 2021: Ohana; 2022: Oklahoma City0 -

Not only 15 shows here and there. You're a band... tour correctly.
Uhmmm...don't they have kids they want to spend time with...or spouses/girlfriends...and a long time ago Jeff said that they're getting too old
to do one big long tour, so they go on the road maybe a month at a time. Give them a break...
I for one have a wife and two kids and sometimes I would kill to go away on tour for 6 months.
Besides, doesn't Ed bring his wife and kids on tour (ala Immagine in Cornice DVD)? And the Stones, Metallica, Chili Peppers, Neil Young, Bruce are all older than the guys in PJ and they all tour 1-2 years at a time. No excuse. The only reason is because they don't want to. He who forgets will be destined to remember.

Oh please! If you have a relationship and kids there's not a single thing more important in your life. Why on earth at this stage of their lives/careers would they choose to vanish around the world and leave that behind? These are a bunch of guys approaching 50 who have worked their collective asses off for longer than some 10c members have been alive. The slowing down proccess started the day the 2006 tour ended and it will never change back now. Side projects keep them fresh and active and hopefully in turn influences the writing/recording process so that they can recapture some of the magic that is less frequent lately. They have given plenty and they appreciate the return they get every time they take to the stage. They don't need to make excuses every time some petulant brat chucks their rattle out of the pram because if they were doing this job just for the money they could have bailed out a long time ago. Take something real like Roskilde to put this into perspective and put your protesting attributes to something more worthwhile. This could have all ended back on that day in June 2000 yet people still expect the world from them. They have every right to their side projects too and it's ridiculous to preach about what you think others should do with their lives. Have a bit more respect for them for what they are before criticizing them as musicians, they are middle aged husbands and fathers with people who depend on them more than you do.Like a book among the many on a shelf...

Well, it only takes one person to not want to. If Eddie, Stone, Mike, and Matt are all cool with doing a tour and being away from families or taking them on tour, but Jeff doesn't feel like it...then I'm sure it's not gonna happen. Eddie's been doing his solo thing so I don't think he has a problem with being on the road.2003: San Antonio, Houston, Dallas, Seattle; 2005: Monterrey; 2006: Chicago 1 & 2, Grand Rapids, Cleveland, Detroit; 2008: West Palm Beach, Tampa; 2009: Austin, LA 3 & 4, San Diego; 2010: Kansas City, St. Louis, Columbus, Indianapolis; 2011: PJ20 1 & 2; 2012: Missoula; 2013: Dallas, Oklahoma City, Seattle; 2014: Tulsa; 2016: Columbia, New York City 1 & 2; 2018: London, Seattle 1 & 2; 2021: Ohana; 2022: Oklahoma City0 -

I don't know about any Foo album but Wasting Light is light years better than Backspacer. Not to say Backspacer is bad because it's a nice 35 minute album. Bottom line is Dave Grohl is 100% committed to his band while Ed is probably 50%. PJ is slowly slipping from relevant alternative band to nostalgic, grunge survivors. It's a natural evolution but it didn't have to happen. Neil Young has stayed relevant and released more albums than PJ this decade and the guy is pushing 70. Bruce tours more than PJ as does DMB. There's a reason they only play certain cities, they don't have near the following in other parts of the country to support arena, amphitheater type shows. It's a choice they made over the past decade, if they had gone in another direction they probably wouldn't even be together at all. I say don't complain and just be happy they tour every few years. Expecting anything else from these guys, all pushing their late 40's is setting yourself up for disappointment.06/22/95, 11/04/95, 11/15/97, 07/16/98, 10/30/99, 10/30/00, 10/31/00, 10/20/01, 10/21/01, 12/08/02, 06/01/03, 06/06/03, 10/25/03, 10/26/03, 09/28/04, 03/18/05, 09/01/05, 07/15/06, 07/16/06, 07/18/06, 07/22/06, 07/23/06, 10/21/06, 10/22/06, 08/28/09, 09/21/09, 09/22/09, 05/20/10, 05/21/10, 10/24/10, 11/26/13, 12/06/13, 06/28/14, 10/26/14, 07/10/18, 08/10/18, 10/02/21,0 -

Vedder could fart into a microphone for 40 minutes while Boom soloed on his Hammond B3 in the background and it would be better rock music than a Foo Fighters album.0 -
I like this quote from Stone:"It's too early to tell what it's going to be yet," Gossard notes, "but we've recorded some great songs and we've written some more and we're going to do some more recording over the next three or four months and most likely the record will come out hopefully next year. I don't like to talk about it too much before it's done because it has a tendency to change direction on me.
