wow..I agree with what someone said about getting the media involved...if there were that many people getting screwed, it shouldn't be hard to round up 10-15 of 'em to verify it (could prob be done here). I'd be interested to see what kind of response you got from the local media....this should be brought to other peoples' attention....you never know, could find a Clark Kent-type that wants to expose some police corruption...which could lead to some attention-seeking attorney getting involved for free on the class action, ending with the downfall of the Camden police chief, and a movie of the week ;)
I agree :o emailing the mayor was a good idea. And also contacting the media since there was so many people.

I agree. i would have pleaded not guilty. I sure as shit would not have paid the $500.

what the fuck is it like when some crazy shit heavy over the top band comes to town? Does the national guard patrol the parking lot? WTF?Entire parking lots must have been locked up when Metallica, Megadeth, Mororhead, Anthrax, etc comes to town.

Pearl Jam fans = wanted by the camden PD.

    WTF?

This is the first I have heard of this story and its fucking shocking.
All that's sacred, comes from youth....dedications, naive and true.

Lol! I think I'll work on setting up a charity foundation - that way bail donations would be tax free. ;)

I dont want to get of into a rant here, but this wouldnt have happened in philly. camden is a shitty city. i think most of us know that. and they have no other way of getting money to "maintain" it so they bust people for crimes they didnt commit. i dont know if thats really true but thats my idea of it and it seems like that is happening. We gotta get it in pj's head that camden sucks. They should play the spectrum again. Thats only my opinion i could be wrong.
  • camden really is a nightmare, this is exactly what I was afraid of when I went to camden night 1. i drank the $8 beers, inside the venue, went in early to avoid the cops... and I guess I saved money compared to that 500 buck fine.

sry this happened, but you did a good thing by contacting the media and the mayor.

The Spectrum holds only 18,000 for basketball. Add in about 1,500 or so floor seats and you're still at under 20,000. Camden holds 25,000. It's not a good business move for PJ to turn down the extra revenue and allow more fans a chance to see them by playing a smaller venue. I prefer the Spectrum too, but from an economic sense Camden is a better option for them.

  • lets be totally honest with ourselves... paying for the beer is enough of a rip off now a days. I don't ever want to pay over five dollars for a six pack, based on principle alone!

buy the beer, and then you have to pay for walking around with it? what kind of futury sci-fi world are we living in?

So, let me get this straight...did nobody out of the "1000" people plead "not guilty" to try and fight it later? I would have thought that somebody would have had some sense in them to realize that charging you for something that wasn't originally on the ticket is not appropriate.

I hope somebody did, and it will be fun to see what happens to them.

I didn't see anybody plead not guilty. I know for me, logistically it wasn't worth fighting. I'd already lost 1 day of work. The drive to Camden is 2 hrs in the morning with tolls and parking added on top. To set a trial date, I would have to do it all over again.

Listen, going to court without a lawyer is just stupid. Walking down a public street with a beer in your hand is stupid. Drinking in front of cops in a private lot is borderline stupid. Basically, a whole lot of stupid going on.

It's a toss up - a lawyer gonna cost you at least $500 unless you get a bunch of people for him/her to defend and work out a deal. So, you either pay the lawyer or pay the court. The problem with fighting it is, you're guilty.

Best way to not get in trouble with the law is to not break the law.

This same thing happened to me at Camden for a Dave show. I thought It had gone away. Didn't notice it at Camden this year for PJ. I did not carry a beer around this time and I warned people. NO dif between cops and criminals in Camden.

    Fuck the police.
