I just received an email from AV stating that my reservation for Labor Day weekend has been given a rate of roughly $125 a night. There was a disclaimer that should that weekend become a concert weekend then the rate will change. Anyone else who made reservations in hopes receive this? Also, roughly when did PJ20 get announced? Has to be close to this time doesn't it? Any help.....

My understanding is that Alpine Valley hotels routinely do this. PJ20 was announced in May of last year.

So you can walk from the resort to the venue?

I got the same mesage from Alpine this morning. Fingers crossed! It will be great to not have to drive back and forth this year.

Oh, and someone in another thread said that the concert rate last year was around $225 per night - FYI.

How could we forget PJF5?? Hmmm, thinking I might need to give Alpine a call soon.

If you do stay there, bring a de-humidifier. Staying there for PJ20, it felt like the sheets were damp as well as all of our clothes that were still in the suitcase every morning.

The convenience of walking to the venue was awesome though!

Who says it has to be a fest?

But I agree with you. I can't see it happening. I know they enjoy playing Alpine but it's a major hassle for them to do shows there.

Why is it a major hassle for PJ to play there? It's just your standard, outdoor concert venue. Putting on a fest like last year would be a hassle, but I don't see why a regular show would be.
  • I made reservations last week and the lady kept using when, not if.

Me: ok so you will email me with the rate change if a concert is announced?

AV lady: yes, when the concert is announced, we will email you with the concert rates.

Now she never specified who the concert will be, however she seemed certain there was a concert planned for Labor Day weekend.

So I made the reservations, if PJ is a no show and whomever it is playing is not worth a flight from Texas all I am out is a $25.00 cancellation fee.

The problem is that it's actually not a standard, outdoor concert venue. It's not very accessible. Compared to other venues, it's difficult for them to get in/out of there with all their equipment. Doesn't help that it's out in the boonies, either.

And this isn't just conjecture on my part. I was told this directly by three people "close to the band" when I asked them when they were playing Alpine again.

Of course, this was a few months before PJ20 was announced, so maybe it was just a smokescreen.

Yeah, I can see Alpine being a pain in the ass to get in/out of. It's hard enough to just get in/out of there in a car! I'm selfishly hoping they dont play alpine labor day weekend since I'll be in Vegas for my bachelor party. Hopefully we'll get a couple shows either at the UC or Alpine at some point this year...

It don't think it will cost you anything if you don't wind up going. From my understanding, the cancellation fee of $25.00 is only if you cancel within 72 hours of the reserved date.

Just make sure you don't forget about your reservation if nothing is happening.
  • For Alpine Valley Resort - the current room rate I was just given (today) was $110/night + tax (for a room with a queen sized bed).

IF it becomes a concert weekend then the rate jumps to $214.99 + tax.

I asked the woman on the phone if she could validate any rumors for this weekend and she did acknowledge the PJ rumor. I know it doesn't mean anything, but given there are no cacnellation fees as long as you cancel at least 72 hours before your reservation there's nothing to lose.

I'm hoping it happens again, regardless of a "PJFest" or just them and an opening band (or even no opener!) But I'm not holding my breath...
