i couldn't convince the wife to get one of these last time. i will definitely make another strong push the next time around.

$2500 for a king doesn't sound all that bad--especially if they last 10 years. i think we spent around $1600 for serta pillow top queen. we're about 6 years in and i swear the thing is messed up. there's a little hill in the middle of the bed that is pretty annoying.
I bought a king serta less than 2 years ago and there's a damn mound in the middle of our's too

    do you rotate your mattress?
problem is that it's a pillow top but not a double pillow top. So I can turn it around end-to-end all I want but cannot flip it. So, the mound just stays in the freakin middle.

you can't really rotate a pillow top...can't flip it that's for sure...and if you rotate, the width isn't the same as the height.

we have a king pillow top...i forget the brand. it was giving me fits for a while, but it seems comy lately.

we checked out the number bed, but i didn't really care for it.

    rotate and or flip

your head doesn't weigh the same as your ass does it? yes/no?

I have always flipped and then rotated the mattress...it has a double pillowtop, just for that purpose.

but yeah, every 3 months...flip over, then 3 months later rotate 180, etc etc...my mattress is well over 12 years old...need a new one. Think it's a Simmons Beautyrest or something.

Another plus for the tempurpedic, you don't flip it or rotate it. As for back issues, with old mattresses I've had to sleep with a pillow between my legs. I no longer do that with the tempurpedic.

  • is a temur pedic = sleep number?

our bed is 4 yrs old. I already have a bad back (shows up on xray and cat scan). If I fall asleep on our couch, I'm fine....like this a.m. after I went back to bed, my back pain woke me up before the alarm. It keeps happening even when I went to bed pain free.

Yes... best purchase I ever made.

I can attest to this, after spending hours in BD's bed.

Stop it, it's not like that.

    holy shit that's a lot of $!

"sorry, son...i know it's your 16th birthday & you had your heart set on getting a car...but we bought a mattress instead!":lol:

My sister & her husband have one that cost more than my car. (Okay, I got my car for free, but still.) I think it cost $6000-$8000, including the fancy frame. But I swear I've never slept in more heavenly a bed! (It's true that it gets kind of hot though.) If I were rich, I'd buy one in a heartbeat.
