I joined in 1991 when it was FREE. I have a copy of what may be the 1st ever 10 Club newsletter.
When they started to charge $5 for membership, I decided not to continue.
In theory, it's kind of flaky to pay to be a fan. You have to remember in those days, there
were no perks for tickets and such. The 7" Christmas single is all you got along with a paper newsletter that was printed in simple black and white. By the way, you got them on time then too ... not 6 -12 months late. WTF.
I remember my number was 4 digits originally. I didn't renew again until 2006.

...If only I knew about the ticket perks. :(
i joined in 95 ish and i'am 135 so u were looking at 145 -150 ish
The Club had some growth that year it looks like. Early 94 here and 64XXX. I will NEVER let that fucker expire.

Four. I gave away my duplicates. Also had a guy climb over me at PJ20 to grab the ones at my feet. Still would like to know who that fat bastard was.
speedy?
I think he was in the lawn night two. The guy literally leaned on me and jumped over and then pushed me aside to grab the picks on the floor. He grabbed probably six or seven. I asked him if I could have one and he said quite bluntly "nope". Oh well...karma bitch.

I was a member of the MLB club who was rolled over to the Ten club right at the start. I lapsed in 93 after a couple of moves and forwarding address snafus. Pre-internet, it was a lot easier to lose track of renewals for subscriptions to all kinds of things, particularly as a 22 year old moving around the country.
As was already mentioned, at that point, there was no tangible benefit beyond the xmas singles and the occasional xeroxed newsletter. There was no concept of seniority, or perks for same. I didn't really sweat no longer being in the fan club, having no inkling that I would be foregoing all kinds long term ticket and merch benefits for being an original member. I don't even know that I had a specific number (the envelope I have that my 91 Xmas single came in just lists my Seattle address, no member #), but if I did I didn't even know what it was.
Over the next couple of decades, I bought each album along the way and caught the occasional show but didn't reconnect with the ten club until recently. I asked the club if they had any record of my charter membership and they said no records exist before 1996 or so when everything went electronic.
But I just rejoined last month and am now proud member number 484,750.
