Does this happen if you miss the renewal, for example, by 1 day? Or do you have to miss for an entire year to lose your number?

Not that it really matters for me since my number begins with a 4 (I kick myself EVERYDAY.....I have loved this band since Ten but never thought to sign up for the Ten Club until 2009 )

You have a 30 day grace period after your expiration date to renew. On day 31, you lose your number. And I'm pretty sure that's calendar days, not business days. I completely forgot and almost missed mine this year. Got it with a week to spare. I already lapsed once back in... '96 I think. Didn't renew again until 2000. I had a 70,000 but now I'm in the low 200,000's. It's still paid off a couple times!

I joined in 1991 when it was FREE. I have a copy of what may be the 1st ever 10 Club newsletter.
When they started to charge $5 for membership, I decided not to continue.
In theory, it's kind of flaky to pay to be a fan. You have to remember in those days, there
were no perks for tickets and such. The 7" Christmas single is all you got along with a paper newsletter that was printed in simple black and white. By the way, you got them on time then too ... not 6 -12 months late. WTF.
I remember my number was 4 digits originally. I didn't renew again until 2006.

I remember taking the fan club leaflet when i saw them in 1992, and thinking i'm going to join this, but never got around to it. think it was $5 to join then. then i never actually joined until 2003, with a number around 300.000
but let it lapse 1 year, now i'm 420 xxx
