need to be a fair system, need to be for ALL the same..
    and 10c find it..

The current system does work the same for all. Some have found ways to better their chances. Is it fair that someone has a faster car than you? Or that someone has a bigger TV? Everyone has equal opporunity to earn the things they desire. If someone has something you want (like a better internet connection), that should drive you to work hard and obtain it for yourself! A lottery would never lead to someone trying to better their situation.
we both pay same money membership..we must have same chances...
all have the same chances, tall, sort, goodlookig, big tv,small tv,big car, small car..
membership is no choice to buy better than others.,my money is the same as yours per year..
why to trying better their situation..membership cost all members the same

is it really a lottery? do you know that? i know different.

I didn't enter this lottery. It seems easy enough, but I think they need to find a happy medium.

I have been in this club a long time. You know what, it was hard earned, in the beginning. Heck, all the way up to 2003! I camped in front of Wherehouse Music to score tickets in 93. I dealt with the 1995 No Sponsor ticket fiasco. I mailed in postcards and money orders. I would drive from show to show, to ensure I was first in line for the best chance at tickets. I understand not everyone could do this, but it took planning and dedication. I took vacation days and planned it out. Sometimes you make sacrifices and it works out. Sometimes it doesn't.

I totally support the random rows at PJ shows, even though it pushes me back from my days up front. I've been to a fair amount of shows. Mostly West Coast, which they don't play as often or as many as the East. But they will need to figure something out by the next PJ tour. I have my opinions and suggestions, but everyone seems to be adding their two cents.

In short; this lottery system for little EV venues (which seems to have somewhat worked) is just not going to cut it for the big tours. Plain and simple.

    yes, you don't know...neither do i
but i can tell you i have seen things that make me question the "act of chance" in these random draws
and u have been here long enough and know enough that you must have also seen questionable "chances"...no??

the old system left the fate in MY hands. the new system does not

    and yes there are conspiracies...

if they had the on sale times spread out the system wouldnt crash
i have zero problems for getting tickets the old system. i only ever got shut out once

I agree. Take the time and let it happen. This is just a convenience for all the "busy" people.

I did a lot of the same. I think the ticketmaster option they did for the Canadain shows worked great.

    ...
Weren't many of the shows prior to 1998, General Admission? And we could only buy one pair from the Fan Club up til 2003. 2003 was the first year we were allowed to buy more than one pair, right? 2006 did not have the Rows 1,2,9,10 lottery... 2009 did have the rows lottery.
So, regarding the fan club, we didn't have to camp out in front of the Wherehouse. The Fan Club made it easy for us to buy the tickets, but they didn't guarantee our place in the venue. They helped get us in the door, we were on our own as to where we were, once inside... right? We have always had to duke it out for tickets in the Public On Sale... except for that One Pair we got from the Fan Club.
That's the way it worked out for me. The first guaranteed seat was in 1998. Were the cities reserved seating by seniority from 1992 to 1998?

Round 1: Select all the shows you would like to enter the lottery for, you can only "win" tickets to one show
Round 2: All shows that do not "sell out" will hold a second lottery for anyone that would like to attend more than one show.

    10c sells their allottment.

Even a rookie programmer could write a program to churn out the results in two seconds if management so desired.

Seniority seating can easily be sorted after the lottery.

Easiest, Fairest, Simplest, most Cost Effective way possible.

Since we're all offering up our opinions.... put me down for the new stress-free/no re-freshing lottery system. Small shows or arena shows - stick with the new stress-free lottery.

    * on a side note.... there are reports out there that suggest ticketmaster actually got boggged down with Chilli Peppers' tickets this past Friday morning. These 'jump-the-line' bot programs are everywhere and even manage to bog down the ticketing process of the sleazy monopoly that is TM

I thought this lotto system worked well. It could work for PJ tours too, Only difference would be that your tickets will be based on seniority at the show(s) you win but there is a limit say 2 10c tix for shows per tour. Also, I like the fact, that you had a full week, to have your money sent in for the drawing. This allows, for people to, correspond with their pay days at work if they need too.

sorry, if this has been a similar idea posted in this thread. Didn't read through the whole thing. Just offering my 2 cents. 8-)

I don't see how the lottery system would not work for an arena tour. 10c will get 1-2k tickets for each venue and they just do the same thing that they did for the Prague gig, Berlin 2 gig and EV gigs.

Ignoring the different levels of membership, we all do pay the same money for membership. We all also all have the same opportunity to get tickets in the current system. Some people take the initiative and some don't. You seem to just gloss over this point. Anyone can put in the time and effort that I do to get tickets. If you don't put in the time and effort, then it's just not that important to you. If I have an advantage (such as faster internet) that you want but can't afford, maybe it will inspire you to go back to school or work some overtime (to better your situation). People should be rewarded for effort, not randomly in a lottery.

I'm in the same boat. The only reason why i dont like the whole lottery system is because the outcome is out of my hands. Although the previous system was a complete nightmare (especially when trying for tix in NYC), i was only shut out of tix once or twice. I sat on the computer for hours getting tix for MSG and AV pressing F5 with multiple computers on using multiple browsers. The lottery system is definitely fairer and more convenient for people.

it also depends on how they do the lottery, are people who were shut out for say a previous tour lottery or show weighted heavier in the next lotto. For example, i know people who have won the 1-2,9-10 lottery multiple times but i never have.

I'm not saying, a lottery could not work. They just need to figure it out before a big tour comes along with a much higher demand.

I appreciate the 10C. They have been pretty good to me over the years. And yes, in 1995 I was given a crack at tickets before general on-sale. Yes, they were general admission. But same goes for EV, right? I mean, no one has a clue where their seats will be! A lottery within a lottery.

why to trying better their situation..membership cost all members the same

Ignoring the different levels of membership, we all do pay the same money for membership. We all also all have the same opportunity to get tickets in the current system. Some people take the initiative and some don't. You seem to just gloss over this point. Anyone can put in the time and effort that I do to get tickets. If you don't put in the time and effort, then it's just not that important to you. If I have an advantage (such as faster internet) that you want but can't afford, maybe it will inspire you to go back to school or work some overtime (to better your situation). People should be rewarded for effort, not randomly in a lottery.

Actually not everyone has access to a computer at 2pm on a Wednesday so no we don't all have the same chances. Not to mention your comments are downright offensive.

Holy crap...the lottery is so cool and easy it is making me agree with RedMosquito22! You are absolutely correct here, sir. :D

I don't think a lottery is necessary for most PJ shows, but in the ones that need it there really isn't a good argument against it.

Another thing I think would be cool to do is give local fans priority and seniority.
  • Count me in with those who do not want a lottery system. Its not always about internet connection, its also about effort. I see people on the form bitching about getting shut out 10 minutes into the presale while I'm still refreshing and working the presale ticket page. Sometimes it took 30 minutes or more before the buy button popped back up and I was able to score tickets, but I was rewarded for my effort. I've only been shut out once and its not because I have the worlds fastest internet connection. I put in the extra effort that others did not. I understand that not everyone can be on their computer at a certain time of day, but that's just how it works. Ticketmaster tickets go on sale at a certain time of day...not everyone can always be there. Its just the way it is.

This won't work unless they tour the whole country, otherwise every one in the south is screwed. :D
